RETROFIT?
A retrofit makes it possible to keep your coordinate measuring machine
(CMM) technically up-to-date without having to dig deep into your pockets.
Retrofit deals with the modernization or conversion of existing equipment
to extend the lifetimes of CMMs. With the help of modernisation, you can
keep up productivity in quality assurance, increase throughput and easeof-use of your system.

WHAT HAPPENS
DURING A RETROFIT?
Basically all kinds of CMMs – whatever brand they are – can be retrofitted
in one way or another. We examine every planned modernization very
carefully: After a 360°-analysis our retrofit experts suggest which
components need to be replaced and which software upgrade will get your
measuring system back on track.
In individual cases, exchanging the control system can work wonders.
Sometimes, however, our service technicians have to do a “general refit”
of the measuring system. Then it doesn‘t necessarily have to do with the
controller only, but also with the software package, the probing system, the
scales, the drives and the computer.
The installation of new components and upgrades to newer software
versions are planned well ahead to keep the downtime of your system to
an absolute minimum. Finally, we will calibrate your system according to

COMPONENTS OF
A RETROFIT?
It’s the controller where it all comes together. The latest development in
our controller family is the new Retrofit Controller RC1. It is compatible
with CMMs and sensors of all makes and brands – be it a 3-axis bridge
CMM with touch trigger probes, a large gantry system with continuous
tactile probes or a horizontal arm CMM with non-contact sensors.
RC1 has a modular structure. The modules allow the integration of
different configurations – for example to manage a 4th axis or a rotary
table – and different power drives in your CMM.
Make the most of your CMM in terms of speed,
acceleration, accuracy, reliability and motion control
with RC1:
Auto Parameters: The RC1 computes parameters
automatically. This accelerates the retrofit considerably
as there is no prior analysis of the parameters necessary.
Constant Improvements: We are collecting information
about our retrofits continually. This database helps us to
get better with every retrofit we do.
Live Service: All of our customers working with the new
RC1 are connected to our Live Service. Our service teams
offer worldwide remote diagnostics. All you need is an
internet connection to take advantage of this service.
One-fits-all: Whatever CMM you’re working with: RC1
controls them all. Different versions are available
supporting touch-trigger and scanning functionalities.
RC1 also contains a universal interface which suits all the
most common CMM encoders and scales (TTL, analogue
or digital, 11microAmps). An I++ DME compliant enables
it to operate with any I++ compliant metrology software.
Plug-and-measure: RC1 is easily set up. Connect it with
any kind of CMM and start measuring right away.

COME INTO PLAY?
Our retrofits generally include the installation or an upgrade of our PCDMIS CMM software. PC-DMIS CMM was the first to integrate CAD in the
measurement process.
It is used across the globe by companies of every size to measure parts
of all shapes, sizes, and tolerances. PC-DMIS makes it easy to set up and
check everything from straightforward, prismatic parts to the most complex contours and surfaces.
