Greetings to Residents, Family and Friends!
Well, we made it! As you read this we’re well into the Fall season,
beautiful foliage and cooler temps! But, as usual, things are warming
up here at Spring Hills! To highlight a few of the many activities
scheduled, allow me to call your attention to these few select eventsWe want to let you know that our residents will be treated to a
special Sunday afternoon of music presented by students from local
school districts, an event we hold every year. Our Family Council
meeting will be scheduled for you to attend, and of course, we will
be saluting our veterans in honor of Veteran’s Day. We’re having
the Rutgers University belly dance troupe perform, too, and there
are a number of entertainers coming in November to sing resident
favorites! Our Connections Support Group will be meeting and we
will be hosting a very special birthday tribute to resident Richard R.,
turning 100 years young!!!

Rutgers University Belly Dance Troupe

Veterans Day Ceremony
Learn the origin and history of this dance from
Rutgers University students. They will perform
a few dances and give instruction to anyone that
wishes to learn.
Thanksgiving Eve Cocktail Party
We will be honoring our 16 in house veterans.
The F.H.S. ROTC will be presenting colors,
demonstrating a flag folding ceremony and its
meaning. Our Franklin Township Mayor will
be a guest speaker, as well as an Honor Flight
Representative. All veterans will gather in our
activity room for a luncheon prepared by Chef Jon
especially for them.
Leonardo is the scheduled entertainer. Amazing
Appetizers and a Champagne Toast to “Gratitude”
are in store for all!

Ms. DalMonte holds a Masters degree in Vocal
Pedagogy & Performance from Westminster Choir
College and a Bachelors in Voice Performance
from the University of Delaware. She studies with

in the New York metropolitan area.

presentation by Chef Jon. The Thanksgiving
holiday is just around the corner, and he is ready
to show us how to make cranberry apple sauce and

Trip to Zimmerli Museum
Spring Cottage residents will visit the
distinguished university based-museum located in
New Brunswick N.J. to check out collections of the
past. The museum collects, preserves, researches,
and exhibits world-class works of art providing
the university community with a direct connection
with the visual arts.

Richard R. Entertainer David Beasley
Spring Cottage will be celebrating the centennial
birthday of our dear Richard. Come wish Richard
a very Happy 100th! The entertainer is high
energy and versatile! He will be singing our
favorite old and new songs. Dance, eat cake, and
celebrate with our newest centenarian.

Drumming Circle with Sharon
A drumming circle is a hands-on rhythm ensemble
based event during which a facilitator leads people
in playing drums and hand played percussion
instruments. Exercise, nurturing social support,
intellectual stimulation, and stress reduction are just
some of the benefits of a drumming circle session. Group
drumming stimulates creative expression that unites our
bodies, minds, and spirits.

November is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month
Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Fudge
Ingredients
•
1 (14-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk, divided
•
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
•
2 tablespoons unsweetened dark cocoa powder
•
1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules
•
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, divided
•
3/4 cup peanut butter chips
•
1 tablespoon peanut butter
•
1/4 cup salted, dry-roasted peanuts, coarsely chopped
Preparation
1. Line an 8-inch square baking dish with wax paper. Place 9 tablespoons milk in a microwave-safe
bowl. Add chocolate chips, cocoa, and coffee. Microwave at HIGH for 1 minute or until melted.
Stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Spread into prepared pan.
2. Combine the remaining milk, peanut butter chips, and peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at HIGH for 1 minute or until melted. Stir in remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Spread
evenly over chocolate layer, and sprinkle with peanuts. Cover and chill 2 hours. Cut into 25
squares.
