1. And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar,
Kedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; 2. That these made war with Bera
king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber
king of Zeboim, and the king of Belah, which is Zoar. 3. All these joined forces together in
the valley of Siddim, which is the Sea of Salt. 4. Twelve years they served Kedorlaomer,
and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5. And in the fourteenth year came Kedorlaomer,
and the kings who were with him, and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-Karnaim, and
the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-Kiriatayim, 6. And the Horites in their Mount
Seir, to Elparan, which is by the wilderness. 7. And they returned, and came to
Ein-Mishpat, which is Kadesh, and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the
Amorites, who lived in Hazezon-Tamar. 8. And there went out the king of Sodom, and the
king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Belah,
the same is Zoar, and they joined battle with them in the valley of Siddim; 9. With
Kedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of
Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

10. And the valley of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah
fled, and fell there; and those who remained fled to the mountain. 11. And they took all
the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. 12. And
they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who lived in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13. And there came one who had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he lived in the
plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshkol, and brother of Aner; and these were
confederate with Abram. 14. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive,
he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and
pursued them to Dan. 15. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by
night, and defeated them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left side of
Damascus. 16. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother
Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

17. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of
Kedorlaomer, and of the kings who were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the
king’s valley. 18. And Melchizedek king of Shalem brought forth bread and wine; and he
was the priest of the most high Elohim. 19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be
Abram of the most high Elohim, possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be Elohim
the Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tenth
of all.

the most high Elohim, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23. That I will not take from a
thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take any thing that is yours, lest you should
say, I have made Abram rich; 24. Save only that which the young men have eaten, and
the share of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre; let them take their
share.

1. After these things the word of Hashem came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not,
Abram; I am your shield, and your reward will be great. 2. And Abram said, Hashem
Elohim, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this
Eliezer of Damascus? 3. And Abram said, Behold, to me you have given no seed; and, lo,
one born in my house is my heir. 4. And, behold, the word of Hashem came to him,
saying, This shall not be your heir; but he who shall come forth from your own bowels
shall be your heir. 5. And he brought him outside, and said, Look now toward heaven,
and count the stars, if you are able to count them; and he said to him, So shall your seed
be. 6. And he believed in Hashem; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

7. And he said to him, I am Hashem who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give
you this land to inherit it. 8. And he said, Hashem Elohim, how shall I know that I shall
inherit it? 9. And he said to him, Bring me a three year old heifer, and a three year old
female goat, and a three year old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10. And he
took to him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half against the other;
but the birds divided he not. 11. And when the eagle came down upon the carcasses,
Abram drove them away. 12. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon
Abram; and, lo, a fear of great darkness fell upon him. 13. And he said to Abram, Know
for a certainty that your seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall
serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14. And also that nation,
whom they shall serve, will I judge; and afterward shall they come out with great wealth.
15. And you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. 16.
But in the fourth generation they shall come here again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is
not yet full.
