ACTIVITY
Principle 1
What is the personal brand that you are building?
Reflect on the investment you make in
YOU.
What’s Your Brand?
The interactions that people have with you every day say something of what
you are as well as who you are.
The way a person reacts under pressure speaks of their character.
Just like building a brand for a business, we must build in our personal brand by
investing time and resources into
How much time and money is spent on
improving your personal brand?
Ethics
Goal Setting
Self-Motivation
Communication
Time Management
Financial Planning
Appearance and Grooming
Principle 2
Physiologically, exercise results in more energy, not less - 20 minutes of
exercise, 3 times a week is all it takes.
Get creative about how you can fit 3 x 20
minutes of exercise into your week.
Let’s Get Physical
When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins.
Endorphins trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine.
That feeling after exercising (known as a "runner's high") can be accompanied
by a positive and energizing outlook on life.

Regular exercise has been proven to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and
feelings of depression, boost self-esteem and improve sleep.
Exercise also has these added health benefits:
It strengthens your heart.
It lowers blood pressure.
It improves muscle tone and strength.
It strengthens and builds bones.
It helps reduce body fat.
It makes you look fit and healthy.
Principle 3
Social wellbeing comes from having a network of connections and supporters.
Become a Social Butterfly
These can be with family, friends, or people in the wider community.
A sense of social wellbeing helps people resolve conflicts, transcend differences
and find opportunities to lead and make a difference in our community.
Social well-being is the satisfaction people experience when they see
themselves as part of a compassionate community they have helped create.
What do I do to give back to my
community?
What organisations, clubs or activities are
you involved with that build your personal
and professional connections?
Smart people know the importance of building connections – personally and
professionally.
Principle 4
Don’t Worry Be Happy
It is easier to do business when you share a personal connection.
Happiness is wanting what you have.
What does happiness look like to you?
Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to perceive, control and evaluate
emotions. If I feel sad I can recognise this in myself, consciously decide whether
or not I want to give energy to how I am feeling and try to understand what it is
that is making me feel this way.
Describe the happiest person you know –
why do you think they appear so happy?
The better I understand myself and what drives me, the better I understand
how what I do impacts others – at work and at home.
Ask a trusted friend for honest feedback
and be prepared to hear it.

Principle 5
Just like a body, a brain can get sick too.
It’s all in your Head
A positive mental attitude gives you to confidence and willingness to cope with
the things that life throws at you.
Tell someone you know that depression is
an illness not a weakness.
Talk About Your Feelings - This can help deal with times when you feel troubled.
Eat Well - There are strong links between what we eat and how we feel – for
example, caffeine and sugar can have an immediate effect.
Keep in Touch - Friends and family can make you feel included and cared for.
They can offer different views from whatever’s going on inside your own head.
Take a Break - A change of scene or a change of pace is good for your mental
health. It could be a five-minute pause from cleaning your kitchen, a half-hour
lunch break at work or a weekend exploring somewhere new.
Accept Who You Are - Some of us make people laugh, some are good at maths,
and others cook fantastic meals. No one can be You better than You.
Drink Sensibly - We often drink alcohol to change our mood. Some people drink
to deal with fear or loneliness, but the effect is only temporary.
Ask for Help - None of us are superhuman. We all sometimes get tired or
overwhelmed by how we feel or when things go wrong.
Do Something You're Good At - What do you love doing? What activities can
you lose yourself in? What did you love doing in the past? Enjoying yourself
helps beat stress.
