We may identify your business or product in many ways, but we cannot “promote” it. In practice, this usually means minor modifications to the spots you might air on commercial television. Spot Length and Format Arizona PBS underwriting spots are :15 seconds in length. Underwriting spots include your company’s name or logo displayed visually. Company mascots, identifiable symbols and animated logos are welcome. You may use a recognized spokesperson’s voice and instrumental music as background. You can show your products in or out of their packaging, and you can feature consumers or employees instead of products. Your credit can include a phone number and/or website address. Arizona PBS takes pride in creating a successful environment in which our underwriters flourish. We work to craft high-quality copy which is successful for the underwriter and is well received by the viewer. Arizona PBS also complies with FCC guidelines for public broadcasters, which determine characteristics within underwriting copy. FCC Guidelines According to Federal Communications Commission regulations, underwriting credits may include: • The business or organization name, subsidiary, DBA, operating division or parent company. • Business location. • A value-neutral description of the business or organization. • Your web address and/or business phone number. • Copyright and/or trademarked slogans or logos that meet FCC guidelines. Underwriting credits may not include: • Calls to action (“Hurry in today….”). • Comparative or qualitative language (“The best burger in town….”). • Testimonials (“They have wonderful customer service….”). • Inducements to buy (“These low prices can’t last….”). • Pricing information (“Just $9.95 apiece….”; “Admission is free….”). Production Arizona PBS provides production services in the creation of new underwriting spots. We can seamlessly blend the creative concepts from your existing advertising campaign with the requirements of Public Broadcasting. Arizona PBS will review all previously produced material for adherence to FCC guidelines and suggest adaptations and changes for you, the client, to consider.
