DIETITIANS DIETITIANS OF OF CANADA CANADA || 11 Nutrition Month 2017 Ambassador Toolkit Introduction to the 2017 Nutrition Month Campaign The Nutrition Month 2017 campaign is dedicated to helping Canadians Take the Fight out of Food! by guiding them through a three-step approach to improve their relationship with food, no matter what the struggle. The slogan for the campaign is Take the Fight out of Food! Spot the problem. Get the facts. Seek support. Eating should be joyful, not a source of everyday frustration and confusion. If you’re fighting with food, try this three-step approach: 1. Spot the problem. Define what’s causing your fight with food first. 2. Get the facts. Use facts from credible sources to decide what needs to be done to solve the problem. 3. Seek support. Put the plan into action with support from a dietitian, family and friends. The Nutrition Month 2017 campaign will use five common ‘food fight’ examples to illustrate the three-step approach. These examples were identified based on frequently asked questions heard by the call centre dietitians at Eat Right Ontario and HealthLink BC. The five “ food fight” examples featured each week are: • FOOD FADS: Ugh! How do I know which nutrition information to trust? • DIGESTIVE WOES: Eek! What’s causing all this gas? • PICKY EATING: Grr! Why is family mealtime such mayhem? • EATING AND STRESS: Help! Why do I always turn to food when I’m stressed? • MANAGING A CONDITION: Sigh! How can I manage my diabetes?
