Citizen Reporting Platform (CRP) For Addressing Violence against Children Background: Project Objectives: A significant number of children in Bangladesh are vulnerable to various forms of physical, emotional, psychological, and sexual violence and live without any direct protection. Most of the violence against children cases go unreported, for a number of reasons. The current reporting mechanism includes directly reporting to the law enforcing agencies and reporting through NGO workers, who are directly engaged with this type of programing. The existing system of reporting violence against children is in the traditional form of pen and paper. This leads to a time lag in compilation of the information and the actual reporting of the case, which ultimately leads to ineffective and/or delayed action against the violence. Due to lack of awareness and publicity, the current government reporting systems are not as accessible or effective as they should be. Sometimes delays and politicization happen in the verification process that impedes the process and fails to provide support to children in crisis. Presently there are limited options to track the actions taken after a case is filed with the authority. This often discourages citizens to report abuse and violence. The current government reporting systems are not as accessible or effective as they should be. Many ordinary citizens are also increasingly frustrated and eager to react to violence against children cases, but do not have tools to be able to report on cases they observe. The creation of a digital Citizen Reporting Portal will fulfil the unmet needs of having a comprehensive system to report on violence against children, and contribute to making the response by government and non-government actors more effective though public engagement and advocacy by child rights organizations. Children & Adolescent The objective of the Citizen Reporting Portal is to encourage citizens of Bangladesh to speak out and take actions to address violence against children in order to prevent violence incidents through creating a digital reporting platform for citizen.
