Rescued! Paraphrased testimony of Arlung When we lost our parents, my older sister and I went to an orphanage, but my younger two sisters were sent to a Buddhist temple 15 hours away. It was sad being separated and we prayed for them often. Finally, when I was 15 the orphanage allowed me to travel by bus to find them. The Lord helped me and I was able to find them and bring my sisters to live with us. They taught the Word at the orphanage and my sisters and I accepted Jesus as Savior. Arlung-Orphanage Operator I went to business school and now two of my sisters and I, along with my wife and son, operate an orphanage that takes in sibling groups so they do not have to be separated. All 11 of the orphans that live with us as a family have accepted Jesus also. We grow, dry, roast, and sell coffee as a way to help support our ministry. We would love to partner with a church who has interest in our orphanage and would send teams to help us expand so we can take in more sibling groups, help us teach the kids life skills or help prepare them for college with help in English, or has interest in sponsoring an Coffee drying orphan monthly. Paraphrased testimony of Amy My sister and I were sent to a Buddhist temple. We worked, studied, and prayed a lot to Buddha. I was only 6 years old. (With a sheepish grin she adds) I think God The coffee has to age must have chosen me because every time we knelt to 10 months before it's pray to Buddha, I would fall asleep. (The grin leaves) ready to roast. They would whip me though. I was so happy when my brother, Arlung, found us and took us out of the temple. Then I went to live where he was and I heard about Jesus. I knew it was the truth and I accepted Jesus as my Savior. People ask me today if I want to get married. (The sheepish grin returns) I tell them, only if God brings a man with a lot of money because he is going to have a lot of kids to take care of. This is my life. I love these kids and I can help them because I know. I know what it is like to have such loss in life. I know what it’s like to be rescued. These testimonies were 2 of the many that we heard from different GAP partners in Thailand. We were moved by Arlung's wfie, Jinda, Arlung, and his sister, Amy. their real and raw experiences as well as their love and dedication to serving the Lord and furthering His kingdom by caring for orphans and leading them to Christ. We look forward to bringing teams from the US to partner with Arlung and his family as they reach a vulnerable group in his country for Jesus. The goal of our trip to Thailand was to meet these GAP partners and raise awareness on this side of the world as to what the Lord is doing in Thailand. We are praying that churches will be challenged to partner with these works, and raise up people willing to go and be part of One of their "kids." Thank you all for your support and prayers, especially for us during our trip. It was a memorable time filled with many blessings. We had a challenge at both ends of our trip. The day we were leaving our youngest daughter began throwing up and continued to be sick with fevers and throwing up for 5 days. We thank the Lord for our friends who stepped in to help take care of her. At the end of our trip, Mendi began feeling sick. At first she just chalked it up to all of the changes of reentry into this climate, the time change, and jet lag, but it wasn't long before fevers and stomach pain convinced her otherwise. She was sick and in bed with fevers and stomach cramping for 4 days after we returned to Salem. A doctor appointment confirmed it as a virus. She's still not back to complete health yet, but she's at least up and around, feeling much better. Please continue to pray for us about our support Another of their "kids."
