Our current economic situation is evidence of what happens when people think they can have everything they want. Jesus calls us to set our own personal “wants” aside so that we have the resources to follow Him instead. June 12 $24,541.00 COUNTING TEAM #7 ASSIGNED JUNE 26 Folk Choir/Linda Mulyk FATIMA STATUE This week the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be in the home of Iris Salerno. MEDITATION FOR June 19, 2016 We are to take up our cross each day and follow Jesus. The Messiah was expected to free the Jewish people from oppression, and restore the freedom and holiness of their nation. Jesus instead reveals that the Messiah will suffer, die and be raised from the dead, and that true discipleship requires selfdenial and sacrifice. Understanding this, let us take up our cross each day and follow Jesus. The first reading from Zechariah foretells mourning by the inhabitants of Jerusalem over one they have slain, which will be followed by repentance. The second reading reminds us that in and through baptism we are made one in Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that living as His disciples requires taking up one’s cross each day and following Him. We can help you fill that void and be part of our Ministry on your terms. If you can spare about two hours or less twice a month to help our seniors with transportation to and from doctor appointments. We work around your availability and time. I promise it is a rewarding feeling to see the gratitude of those you help. Some of our clients have no family, or their family lives too far away to assist them. Can you give it a try with no obligation or schedule to keep? You volunteer on your terms and time. For additional information, please call Dorothy Wiley at 732-297-2619.
