Cast vision for its value and generate excitement for the weeks to come. SOAP Use SOAP as tool to facilitate dialogue around each person's reading over the past week. Aim to give everybody an opportunity to share and ask questions etc. It may be worthwhile going over the process of SOAP with your group encouraging its use throughout the reading plan. Aim to engage everyone in your group with these questions based from their readings. Scripture Observation Application Prayer What chapters or verses stood out to you in your reading over the last week? What was important to you about that scripture? What does it mean for your life? Pray for each other that the challenges from scripture would be applied in each other's lives. Memory verse Colossians 3:16a - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Touch base on this week's memory verse. Read over it & practice remembering it! Building my life on the Bible Read together: Matt 7:24-27 1. What does this passage say will happen if we allow God’s Word to be the foundation of our lives? 2. What are the two things we need to do with God's word to ensure it becomes a foundation? (v24) 3. What might be the outcome on our faith if we ignore the power of God's word? Read together: James 1:19-25 which speaks into how we might hear and apply Gods word. 4. James 1:19-25 contains key thoughts on how to build your life on the Bible. Read this passage silently to yourself and choose a word or phrase that stands out to you. Explain your choice. 5. Look through James 1:19-25 again. Write down the action words in the passage. How can these actions be used to study the Bible in more depth? 6. What does it mean to be blessed? 7. Studying the Bible is key to successful, significant living. Reflect on your relationship with the Bible and share with your group. What changes do you need to make? 8. We only believe the parts of the Word that we do. What part will you believe this week? Diving Deeper (optional) “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8 (NIV) 1. Paraphrase It! Try putting Joshua 1:8 in your own words. If possible, read it in several translations. 2. Joshua 1:8 is the only verse in the Bible that promises success and prosperity. How do we realize this promise? Encourage your group to continue with the reading plan and be back for next week!
