The Lakeridge library hosted an event on March 22 and 23 during
Flex time to determine Lakeridge's Hunger Games Tribute. Over
50 students participated in the event. The first stage was a
Hunger Game Trivia Challenge. Students had 15 minutes to answer
50 multiple choice questions. The top 20 students advanced to
the costume round. Students eliminated in the trivia round were
asked to act as "stylist" for the remaining Tributes. Each
remaining Tribute was given a paper bag containing paper, yarn,
cloth, beads, garland, and other things to make a costume. The
Tribute and their stylist then had about 12 minutes to make a
costume from scratch.
The scene in the library was similar to opening Christmas
presents. Picture of the Tributes were given to a 4 adult
judges to decide which 12 Tributes would advance to the
final championship round. The final 12 Tributes then had
turns shooting targets with such things as blowguns and
paper Chinese throwing stars at targets to determine a
champion.
The Tributes advancing to the final round were: Rachel Beane, Ariana Cole, Eden Cottrell,
Brayden DeJong, Dempsey Emery, Grace Emery, Nichole Granados, Matthew Gunnell, Emily
Hamilton, Donavyn Jorgensen, Bailey Nixon, and Jaden Sigu. At the end of the day, Dempsey
Emery was the survivor and has become Lakeridge Junior High's Hunger Games Tribute.
Thank you, Mr. Trent, for making books so memorable and fun!
2 Library Battle of the Books:
Lakeridge Media Center held its 4th annual Battle of the Books. 7 teams competed to answer trivia question on 8 Battle Books. The Battle Books for this year were Diary of a Wimpy Kid: the Ugly Truth, The Lost Hero, Mockingjay, Hatchet, Fablehaven, Ender's Game, and Romeo & Juliet. These books are among the most popular books checked out from our library here at Lakeridge. The teams comprised of no more than students 4 on a team: The winning team was: Amber Ogden, Elena Durfee, Beth Bettridge, and Sabrina Densley. Members of the winning team all received iTune gift cards and the other contestants received other goodies. We are having fun at the Library!

PTSA President’s Message
The 9th grade celebration is held each year to acknowledge the wonderful accomplishments of our
departing class. This year’s event to honor the class of 2015 will be Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00p. In addition to
the events in the auditorium, our art show will be displayed in the cafeteria. Our celebrated Jazz Band will also
play in the cafeteria after the celebration as you enjoy your brownies. This is an opportunity for parents,
students, and faculty to enjoy many performances and celebrate the end of a wonderful Lakeridge experience!
The PTSA does need some help from our 7th and 8th grade parents to hand out certificates and help
with treats so our 9th grade parents can enjoy the events in the auditorium. If you can help, please contact us at
[email protected]. Thank you! Angela Cottrell

Brayden DeJong, Dempsey Emery, Grace Emery, Nichole Granados, Matthew Gunnell, Emily
Hamilton, Donovan Jorgersen, Bailey Nixon y Jaden Sigua. Al final del dia, Dempsey Emery fue
