Team. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for both undergraduate and veterinary school. After earning her doctorate she
completed a rigorous medical and surgical internship at the Mid-Atlantic
Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey where she worked with
horses of all disciplines.
Dr. Livesey is particularly interested in lameness, surgery, and dentistry,
and also enjoys emergency work. In her free time she loves traveling to

Incidence of Tick Diseases Continues To Spread
Cases of Lyme Disease and Anaplasmosis were once focused in a few counties in Wisconsin and
New York. Over the years these diseases have spread across the New England region, over all of
Wisconsin and into its bordering states. At this time much is still unknown about the long-term effects of these diseases in humans, horses, and other animals that have had these diseases
At this time, the best means we have to deal with these diseases is being vigilant about preventing
infection. Though there is no vaccine currently approved in horses, one of the dog Lyme vaccines
has shown success in preventing the disease in horses in initial studies and anecdotally in practice.
A tick must be attached 12 to 48
hours to transmit diseases to a host Dr. Johnson’s Top Tick Disease Prevention Products:

Seasonal Reminders:
* COLIC ALERT! - dietary changes from new green grass comes potential for colics, start turnout on
pastures starting at only a couple hours a day increasing by 1-2 hours per week.
* Keep laminitic, insulin resistant, and overweight horses off pasture entirely. The rapid spring
growth means higher sugar content in the grass, too much for at-risk horses.
* Have your foaling kits stocked and ready. Don’t forget to schedule a new foal exam
(includes post-foaling mare exam) and IgG level (immunity test) after the foal is born.
