March 10 vs Springfield at BG Middle School (Tournament finals)
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team had a come from behind win to upset #1 seed
Springfield, Thursday night, to win the NLL Championship by a score of 32 - 27. The #3 seed
Lady Jackets found themselves trailing by 5 points at halftime, 21 to 16. Perrysburg was able to
tie the game at the end of the third quarter 23-23, before taking and securing the lead in the
fourth quarter behind a stingy defense that only allowed 6 points in the second half. Scoring for
the Jackets were Hannah Miller with 10 points, Lydia Knowlton with 6 points, Maddy Johnson
with 5 points, Sarah Pantenburg with 5 points, Jade Faris with 4 points, and Gracie Mitchell with
2 points.
March 8 vs Arbor Hills at BG Middle School (Tournament)
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team advanced to the finals of NLL tournament to
be played Thursday evening at 5:00 at BG Middle School by defeating Arbor Hills by a score of
34-25 Tuesday Night. After defeating Timberstone in the opening round of the tournament on
Saturday 27-15, the Lady Jackets found themselves with a huge test, facing the team that had
beat them twice during the regular season. Perrysburg jumped out to a quick lead scoring the
first 8 points of the night and led 13-4 at halftime. Arbor Hills came out of the locker room
strong and came to within 3 points at the end of the 3rd quarter, but the Lady Jackets stayed
strong and outscored Arbor Hills 15-9 in the fourth quarter. Jade Faris contributed 12 points
going 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Also scoring for Perrysburg were Maddy Johnson with 8
points, Lydia Knowlton with 6 points, Gracie Mitchell with 4 points, Sara Pantenburg with 2
points, Hannah Miller with 1 point, and Sydney Rudolph with 1 point.
Feb 25 at Arbor Hills
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team closed out the regular season Tuesday Night
with a loss to Arbor Hills 39-29. The Lady Jackets head into the NLL tournament with an overall
record of 11-4, 6-2 in the NLL.
Feb 22 Timberstone home
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team improved to 6-1 in the NLL and 11-3 overall
Monday night, by defeating defending NLL champion, Timberstone, by a score of 26-7. After
finding the score tied 6-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Jackets clamped down on
defense and outscored Timberstone 20-1 over the last three quarters of the game. Scoring for
Perrysburg were Lydia Knowlton with 8 points, Hannah Miller with 7 points, Gracie Mitchell
with 5 points, Sydney Rudolph with 2 points, Lily Yoder with 2 points, and Jade Faris with 2
points.
Feb 18 at Springfield
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team lost a heartbreaker Thursday night to
Springfield 38-39. The Lady Jackets were able to jump to a 16-7 lead at the end of the 1st
quarter, but Springfield was able to chip away at the lead to win it. Scoring for Perrysburg was
Hannah Miller with 9 points, Maddy Johnson with 7 points, Sydney Rudolph with 4 points, Jade
Farris with 4 points, Gracie Mitchell with 4 points, Lydia Knowlton with 4 points, Jena Koskinen
with 2 points, Sarah Pantenburg with 2 points, Lily Yoder with 1 point, and Leah Skrzyniecki
with 1 point.
Feb 16 Anthony Wayne home
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team defeated Anthony Wayne Tuesday night by a
score of 18-14. Once again, finding themselves trailing at halftime 7-8, the Lady Jackets stepped
it up in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Generals 9 points to 3. Perrysburg was able to
hang-on in the 4th quarter for the 4 point victory. Scoring for the Lady Jackets were Lydia
Knowlton with 7 points, Sarah Pantenburg with 4 points, Sydney Rudolph with 3 points, Sharon
Smith with 2 points, and Lily Yoder with 2 points. Perrysburg's record stands at 10-2 on the
season and 5-0 in the league.
Feb 11 at Napoleon
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team travelled to Napoleon Thursday and won a
close one in overtime by 2 points 25-23. After finding themselves trailing 7-9 at halftime, the
Lady Jackets fought back to a 20-20 tie at the end of regulation. After finding themselves
trailing by 3 points in overtime, as Napoleon made 3 free throws, Sharon Smith tied the game
with a 3 pointer, and Jade Faris had a put back rebound with 10 seconds remaining to secure the
win. Scoring for the Lady Jackets were: Sydney Rudolph with 6 points, Sharon Smith with 5
points, Leah Skrzyniecki with 4 points, Maddy Johnson with 3 points, Jade Faris with 2 points,
Sarah Pantenburg with 2 points, Lydia Knowlton with 2 points, and Lily Yoder with 1 point.
Feb 9 at McCord
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball team defeated McCord Tuesday night by a score of
20-12. The Lady Tartans had an upset on their minds finding the score tied 6-6 at halftime, but
the Lady Jackets fought hard in the third quarter, outscoring McCord 10-3 to take the lead and
win the game. Leading the scoring for Perrysburg was Lydia Knowlton with 5 points, Gracie
Mitchell with 4 points, Sydney Rudolph with 3 points, Jena Koskinen with 2 points, Lily Yoder
with 2 points, Jade Faris with 2 points, and Sarah Pantenburg with 2 points. The Lady Jackets
improve to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in NLL play.
Feb 3 Bowling Green home
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team earned their third win in three days by
defeating Bowling Green Wednesday 28-14 in a hard fought game. Leading 10-5 at halftime, the
Lady Jackets were able to keep their poise and pull away in the 3rd quarter outscoring the
Bobcats 9-2. Leading the scoring for Perrysburg was Lydia Knowlton with 12 points, Sarah
Pantenburg with 4 points, Hannah Miller with 3 points, Maddy Johnson with 2 points, Lily
Yoder with 2 points, Leah Skrzyniecki with 2 points, Jena Koskinen with 2 points, and Sharon
Smith with 1 point.
Feb 2 McCord home
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team played host to McCord Tuesday night and was
not a very good host. The Lady Jackets defeated the Tartans by a score of 38-0. Leading the way
in scoring for Perrysburg was Lydia Knowlton with 11 points, Maddy Johnson and Gracie
Mitchell both with 8 points, Sydney Rudolph with 4 points, Lily Yoder with 3 points, Hannah
Miller with 2 points, and Leah Skrzyniecki with 2 points.
Feb 1 Gateway home
Congratulations to the Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team who defeated Gateway
Monday night by a score of 31-12. The Lady Jackets led 10-4 at halftime before outscoring the
Lady Panthers 21-8 in the second half. Perrysburg's leading scorer was Lydia Knowlton with 9
points, followed by Sydney Rudolph with 6 pts., Sarah Pantenburg with 5 pts., Sharon Smith
with 4 pts., Hannah Miller with 2 pts., Lily Yoder with 2 pts., Gracie Mitchell with 2 pts., and
Jade Faris with 1 pt.
Jan 28 Arbor Hills home
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team was defeated Thursday night by a score of 3138 at the hands of the Arbor Hills Roadrunners. The Lady Jackets fought hard to tie the game up
after trailing 16-21 at the half in the 4th quarter, but fell short. Scoring for Perrysburg were
Sharon Smith with 9 points, Maddy Johnson: 4 pts., Gracie Mitchell; 4 pts., Sarah Pantenburg; 4
pts., Lydia Knowlton; 4 pts., Hannah Miller: 2 pts., Lily Yoder: 2 pts., and Jade Faris: 2 pts.
Jan 25 At Timberstone
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team got back to their winning ways Monday night
by defeating Timberstone 28-23. The score went back and forth throughout the first three
quarters when Perrysburg found themselves with a one point lead, 16-15. They were able to keep
that lead and extend it to win the game. Leading the scoring for the Lady Jackets was Gracie
Mitchell with 8 pts., Lydia Knowlton with 6 pts., Lily Yoder with 4 pts., Sarah Pantenburg with
4 pts., Jena Koskinen with 2 pts., Jade Faris with 2 pts., and Leah Skrzyneicki with 2 pts.
Jan 21 Springfield home
Perrysburg 8th grade girls' basketball team received their first loss of the season at the hands of
the Springfield Blue Devils. The Lady Jackets went into the locker room at halftime trailing 5-12
and were never able to overtake the Blue Devils after that. The final score was 21-27. Scoring for
Perrysburg were Maddy Johnson with 10 points, Lily Yoder: 3 points, Hannah Miller : 2 points,
Sydney Rudolph: 2 points, Lydia Knowlton: 2 points, Gracie Mitchell: 1 point, and Leah
Skzyniecki : 1 point.
Jan 7 At Gateway
Congratulations to the Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team who improved their record
to 2-0 Thursday night by defeating Gateway Middle School by a score of 32-6. After leading 7-6
after the 1st quarter, the Lady Jackets did not allow a point for the rest of the game. Nine
Perrysburg players contributed to the scoring. Hannah Miller had 6 pts.; Sharon Smith, Maddy
Johnson, Lily Yoder, Sarah Pantenburg and Leah Skrzyniecki each had 4 points. Lydia
Knowlton had 3 points. Jena Koskinen had 2 points and Jade Faris had 1 point.
Jan 5 At BG
The Perrysburg 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Team won a nail biter Tuesday night over Bowling
Green by a score of 27-25. Gracie Mitchell drove to the basket and scored with 10 seconds
remaining to put the Lady Jackets ahead for good. Perrysburg was able to hold the lead and fend
off a Bowling Green come back after leading at the end of the 3rd quarter 23-11. Also scoring
for the Lady Jackets were Hannah Miller: 6 pts., Maddy Johnson: 4 pts., Sarah Pantenburg: 4
pts., Leah Skrzyniecki: 2 pts. Lydia Knowlton led all players with 9 pts.
