This approach facilitates collaboration with third parties based on open standards, regardless of vendor. The HPE OpenNFV Partner Program supports this degree of flexibility and openness by including emerging independent software vendors (ISVs) along with leading network equipment providers (NEPs), technology vendors, and service providers. The result: CSPs can transition to NFV in a way that best suits the business and IT. The HPE OpenNFV Partner Program includes: Technology partners—Top-performing technology companies and vendors that collaborate on technology innovation, integration, and support. Application partners—ISVs are self-tested in a remote OpenNFV virtual environment (referred to as “OpenNFV tested”), are joint-tested in physical HPE labs (referred to as “OpenNFV ready”). Services partners—Systems integrators. Data sheet Page 2 Testing in the OpenNFV Labs OpenNFV Labs provides a one-stop center where integration, collaboration, and testing occur in a safe environment ahead of deployment to carrier networks. With OpenNFV Labs, CSPs gain access to software development kits (SDKs), application program interfaces (APIs), training, and integration resources to get applications tested and ready for CSPs, advancing innovation while reducing risks. There are currently five HPE OpenNFV Labs locations: Fort Collins, CO; Houston, TX; Grenoble, France; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Seoul, South Korea. Partner solutions are tested in the OpenNFV labs leveraging our reference architecture and NFV System. The NFV Reference Architecture supplements existing systems by identifying the HPE products that readily integrate with scalable, high-performing, and robust NFV solutions. NFV System offers a fully integrated, turnkey solution. The labs validate partner solutions in three tiers—silver, gold and platinum—which tests onboarding and basic functionality, performance and scalability, and continued functionality through software updates and changes. Partner Introduction RADCOM provides innovative service assurance and customer experience management solutions for leading telecom operators and Communication Service Providers (CSP’s) and specializes in solutions for next-generation mobile and fixed networks, including LTE, VoLTE, IMS, VoIP, UMTS/GSM and mobile broadband. RADCOM address the challenges of network analytics in the era of NFV and SDN and revolutionizes customer experience analysis, by providing clear visibility into 4G LTE and VoLTE Key Performance and Quality Indicators (KPIs/KQIs) for networks deployed on NFV Cloud based infrastructure. Testing Statement With the transition of CSP’s from physical networks to NFV, carriers are gradually transitioning from legacy to NFV networks (e.g. EPC to vEPC and IMS to vIMS). With this transition, network traffic can no longer be monitored on physical interfaces as all infrastructures become virtualized. In this environment, a virtual monitoring solution such as MaveriQ NFV is required to collect and monitor network traffic from virtual interfaces and produce meaningful information for Service Assurance and CEM platforms. Partner Solution Overview MaveriQ NFV is designed for carriers migrating their networks to cloud-based virtual networks by offering a virtual network monitoring solution, that can be deployed automatically anywhere on the CSP’s cloud and monitor any type of traffic or protocol. This allows providing CSP’s with customer experience monitoring, network performance monitoring, service optimization, marketing analytics, network planning and subscriber and network troubleshooting in a single solution. MaveriQ NFV is designed to be deployed on leading NFVI platforms including HPE Helion carrier grade cloud platform and supports full automation by leading MANO systems such as OpenStack HEAT and HPE Director. Additionally, RADCOM is an Application Partner in the HPE OpenNFV Program, providing a proven and innovative NFV Customer Experience Management (CEM) solution to carriers worldwide as well as being part of HPE ecosystem and a member of HPE AllianceOne partner program. As depicted in Figure 1, the MaveriQ solution is comprised of MaveriQ probes (virtual probes or appliances) that non-intrusively monitor network interfaces and the MaveriQ Management System which provides network analytics and a presentation layer. RADCOM’s MaveriQ solution is an innovative service assurance and Customer Experience Management solution that addresses multiple service provider needs including customer experience monitoring, network performance monitoring, service optimization, marketing analytics, network planning and subscriber and network troubleshooting in a single solution. MaveriQ is a multi-technology solution designed for wireless and wireline networks and multiple services such as voice, data, video and Rich Communications Services. MaveriQ is optimized for LTE-Advanced, LTE, HSPA, UMTS, GPRS, CDMA, Wi-Fi, VoLTE, IMS, VoIP and SIGTRAN networks. MaveriQ is a high performance solution designed for Terabit Networks. The capability to analyze hundreds or even thousands of Gbps in real-time is achieved by utilizing technologies such as Big Data analytics engines, column-based data warehousing, Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) and ultra-fast packet processing techniques such as Intel’s DPDK. As a result of RADCOM’s participation in the HPE OpenNFV Partner Program, CSP’s transitioning to NFV can now enjoy a state of the art NFV CEM solution which is fully integrated and interoperable with HPE Helion OpenStack® Carrier Grade, to support CSP’s reliability, scalability and performance requirements and comprehensive management and orchestration software using HPE NFV Director. This allows CSP’s to fully enjoy the benefits of the cloud: •Reduced OPEX: Automating solution roll out •Accelerated Time-to-Market: Reducing the time to deploy new elements •High Agility and Flexibility: Quickly scale up or down to address changing demands •High Availability: Automated healing & redundancy Data sheet Page 4 OSS/BSS Os-Ma Service, VNF and Infrastructure Description Management & Orchestration (MANO) Se-Ma HPE Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) Vprobe EMS 2 EMS 3 VNF 2 VNF 3 Ov-Vnfs Ve-Vnfs VNF Manager Or-Vi Vi-Vnfs Virtual Computing Virtual Storage Virtual Network Nf-Vi HPE Virtualization Layer Openstack HPE Helion NFV Infrastructure (NFVI) Figure 2: Testing Environment Testing Details and Proof Points Environment: RADCOM MaveriQ VNFC’s were deployed using OpenStack HEAT templates on HPE Helion Carrier Grade platform with following properties: VNFC—QCOW2, Object Storage—CINDER, Cloud platform—RHEL (ver. 6.5), Hypervisor— KVM, RAM—8GB, SRIOV—Yes, DPDK—Yes. Data sheet Page 5 Figure 3: MaveriQ on OpenStack Solution Benefits The MaveriQ is designed to enable service providers and vendors to succeed in their efforts to address the significant technology challenges, including the deployment of next-generation networks such as UMTS, HSPA, 4G, LTE, VoLTE, LTE-A, IMS, IPV6 and triple-play. MaveriQ is the industry’s first NFV-ready probe and management solution and is the first vendor to announce support for NFV. RADCOM’s innovative network analytics and customer experience management solutions, combined with HPE’s Converged Cloud strength delivers the industry’s best NFV solution. Conclusion Operators are expected to move core network functions such as EPC and IMS to NFV. To do so, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) aims to address the challenges of using proprietary hardware appliances in network operators’ networks by using software based solutions on standard servers. When transitioning network elements to NFV, operators should consider the impact on their current monitoring solutions, some of which may become severely limited once network elements are virtualized.
