Questions related to diet types (kosher, halal, vegan, vegetarian)
9.
Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG halal certified?
No, our products are not halal certified. However, Muslims can still consume our products without worry since our chocolate is vegetarian, we use only animal products such
as milk, eggs and honey and no materials derived from pigs are used. Furthermore, alcoholic ingredients must be declared on the packaging.
10. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG kosher?
In general, our chocolate products for the Swiss market are not kosher produced. There
is, however, an official list of kosher food products whose ingredients are kosher, although the food products as a whole are not certified. The kosher list can be found at the
following link:

11. Do the products from Chocolat Frey AG contain alcohol?
Yes, there are alcohol-containing products from Chocolat Frey. Alcohol content is declared on the package if it is more than 0.5% by volume. The package then also contains
a corresponding warning notice. The 0.5% volume amount is a Migros rule. Legally, alcohol must be declared starting at 1.2% volume content. In addition, ingredients containing alcohol must appear in the ingredients list.
12. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets?
We can guarantee that our chocolate products are suitable for a vegetarian diet, since
they are made of only plant-based ingredients. Many of our chocolate products, however, contain animal products such as milk, honey and eggs, which are not appropriate for
a vegan diet. We recommend reading the declaration on the backside of the packaging,
which is always up to date and valid for the product.
Our chewing gum products can contain the natural colorant conchenille (E120).
Questions abouts allergies and intolerances
13. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG gluten free?
Chocolat Frey AG produces a very wide assortment of items from numerous production
lines. Included are products that contain ingredients with gluten. These are of course
clearly marked on the packaging, in particular in the ingredients list. Gluten-containing
products are those with barley malt extract (such as Eimalzin products), Japonais biscuit
sprinkles (Japonais products), waffles or biscuits (such as certain bars), wheat crispies
(such as Farmer products), etc.
Unfortunately, we do not have a list of gluten-free products. We recommend reading the
declaration on the packaging, which is always up to date and valid for the product.
14. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG free of peanuts?
The production of Chocolat Frey (but not its products!) are declared to customers and in
product specifications as being "free of peanuts", which allows the allergen notice of
"can contain traces of peanuts" to be dispensed with. On the other hand, the same guarantee cannot necessarily be made for our products, since raw materials could potentially
be contaminated prior to our receiving them. Ultimately, we cannot conduct inspections
for traces of peanuts with 100% of all deliveries.
15. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG free of nuts?
No. All of our products can contain nuts or traces of them. For this reason, Frey products
are not suitable for those allergic to nuts.
16. Are the products from Chocolat Frey AG lactose free?
Chocolat Frey AG maintains a lactose-free product line. All lactose-free
articles are labeled with the AHA seal.
17. Which products from Chocolat Frey AG are suitable for diabetics?
All products containing the following label are appropriate for diabetics.
