The Communications Associate will work individually and as part of a team. The Associate will assist and advise in designing and implementing communications and outreach strategies. Must be able to deliver high quality written products under tight deadlines and competing pressures. Understands that the nature of the position and client services requires a positive and flexible attitude. Required Skills & Experiences Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience performing the essential functions of the position including communications, marketing or outreach. Preferred candidates will have served in a communications assistant or associate capacity and have experience handling day-to-day and strategic communications. Exceptional writing skills (absolute must) and ability to quickly tailor writing for different audiences, formats and styles, including journalistic, pitching, educational, advocacy and marketing Exceptional attention to detail, editing and proofing of documents Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced deadline-driven environment and prioritize tasks Ability to take direction, be creative and diligent and think strategically and proactively 1126 16th Street, NW Washington, DC 20036 +1 202 499 7027 Proficient in using social media; experience designing, implementing, tracking and reporting social media campaigns Experience designing and/or implementing strategic communications and outreach campaigns including media relations and social media campaigns Understands essential communications functions including op-ed/LTE strategy, pitching process and drafting press releases and advisories Successful pitching and placement of op-eds, blogs, LTEs and other external communications Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; preferred experience with online document systems including Constant Contact, Salsa, Mail Chimp and research databases including Westlaw, Lexis, CQ, Leadership, etc. Excellent research skills including online research Meticulous attention to detail Creative, thoughtful team player willing to think outside the box Positive attitude and fun to work with! Preferred Areas of Expertise Understands nonprofit structure and coalition work Familiarity with AP and Chicago Style Marketing experience Experience developing print and electronic materials Tracking federal legislative and policy activity Experience working on legislative and administrative policy or communications issues Experience developing advocacy and outreach campaigns Hill experience is a plus To Apply Candidates should apply by email to [email protected].
