The new Chancellor spoke and he said that they are going to be working on revamping the curriculum approval process. 5) APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF December 1, 2016 Approve the December 1, 2016 minutes N: 0 A: 0 M: D. Near S: C. Kreide Y: 13 6) CONSENT AGENDA 1: New Courses Dee Near pulled READ 81A. She wasn’t sure how the My Reading Lab purchase was going to be used by students in a lecture only class. It was explained that usually My Reading Lab is used as supplemental instruction. Approve Consent Agenda 1 M: D. Near S: D. Kain Y: 13 N: 0 A: 0 7) CONSENT AGENDA 2: 2nd Reading AA Breadth Approve Consent Agenda 2 M: D. Near S: G. Soto Y: 13 N: 0 A: 0 8) CONSENT AGENDA 3: Title 5/CTE 2‐Year/Course Modifications Teresa Gudgel pulled ARTD‐41B and ARTD‐41A. Teresa pointed out that the title of these two courses have gone back and forth between intermediate visual communication and graphic design several times. This creates confusion for students and other complications later so it is best to avoid these types of changes when possible. Alana decided to change the title to adhere to a new graphic design AA‐T that is coming out. Approve Consent Agenda 3 M: L. Benhissen S: D. Rempel Y: 13 N: 0 A: 0 Title 5 Approval M: D. Near S: S. Norris Y: 13 N: 0 A: 0 9) CONSENT AGENDA 4: Program Modifications Approve Consent Agenda 4 M: L. Benhissen S: D. Near Y: 13 N: 0 A: 0 10) BUSINESS: a. INFORMATION: Remind faculty to update any English requisites with the approved English course changes. Myshel asked members to remind faculty that as they are updating their courses that have English prerequisites or advisories to update those with the approved English courses that are going to be effective this summer. b. INFORMATION: Auto has elected to rescind the approval of Suspension and Brakes 09004.CL and Transmissions 09006.CL as they undertake a broader program change. The Auto faculty have elected to rescind their approvals because they have a bigger change in mind and they want to wait to revamp their entire program. They are looking into changing their certificates and making other changes that will benefit students. c. INFORMATION: Update on transcription of certificates below 18 units. There was a meeting on December 13 with faculty, CTE deans and student services to discuss transcripting certificates that are fewer than 18 units and are in the approved chancellor’s office inventory. At that meeting it was decided that student services will transcript those certificates. d. EDUCATION: Resources for Creating New Course Proposals Myshel is working on creating a curriculum handbook webpage which will have a variety of topics and helpful resources for each topic. She has created the topic for creating new course proposals which includes helpful resources including a Word version of the justifications page in CurricUNET, the curriculum reference guide, and a document that explains the differences between outcomes and objectives and how to write them. 11) C‐ID UPDATE No updates. 12) Chancellor’s Office Updates (as of January 1, 2017) At the end of the course packet there is a list of the Chancellor’s Office updates. English 85E was also approved. 13) COMMITTEE REPORTS A. Articulation Officer – Lou Ferguson No report. B. IPRSLOAC The Dean of Institutional Effectiveness should be on campus now.
