Job Title:
Summer Reading Club Assistant
Reports to:
Coordinator of Children’s and Teen Services
Position Summary:
NGPL provides quality summer programming for families and teens in the North Grenville community.
The TD Summer Reading Club Assistant assists with the planning and delivery of this bilingual summer
reading program for kids of all ages, all interests and all abilities.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Coordinator of Children’s and Teen Services will plan activities for
children ages 0-16 for the TD Summer Reading Program, which will focus on Canada’s 150th.
Assist in the development of the programs and the marketing and delivery of programs
Plan and deliver programs using STEAM theory of integrating science, technology,
engineering, arts and math into a fun and collaborative way of learning
Prepare a plan for programs that will reach out to the rural areas of the community
Keep detailed statistics and registration information on the summer program
Prepare a report for distribution to the Library Board and Friends of the Library on the
program.
Assist with regular Library duties such as checking books in and out; registering new users;
renewal of materials; shelving
Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements
This position is funded under the Canada Summer Jobs Program and applicants must adhere to
the following:
a. Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment
b. Was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
c. Intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
d. Is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program;
e. Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refuge protection has been
conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not
eligible) and:
f. Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
