NATIONAL COORDINATION
• In Kenya, the Ministry Environment & Natural
Resources in partnership with JICA is
coordinating the implementation of the new
African initiative.
BROAD AIM OF THE INITIATIVE
• The Initiative aims at creating partnership
between countries and partners to address
issues of desertification and strengthening
resilience to Climate Change in the Sahel and
the Horn of Africa.
• The participating countries in the horn of
Africa are Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya,
Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.
OUT COMES OF INITIATIVE
• Broadly, the new initiative will have three
main outputs namely;
• Building a network
• Knowledge sharing and
• Improving access to finance
