Skillet The Table Mountain Concert Series Presented by Toyota, Xfinity & Fresno Pacific University On Tuesday, October 8, Christian rock band Skillet will take the stage at the Paul Paul Theater changing your perception of original Christian rock bands with their crossover, award-winning appeal. The band was originally formed in 1996 as a side project for John Cooper (lead vocals) and other members. They referred to themselves as “Skillet” since they came from a mixture of backgrounds, talents and styles. Though membership in the band has changed over the years, the name has stuck. Together, they’ve released 10 albums and received two Grammy nominations. As boasted on the band’s website, executives at Billboard Music Charts have complemented their unique style, “becoming incredibly deft at straddling the line between faith-based idealism and secular university.” In 2009, the band released their fifth album Awake, which landed at #2 spot on Billboards Top 200, selling more than 68,000 copies in the first week. Skillet saw continued success with the release of their newest album Rise in 2013 as it debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Album Chart as well as #1 on iTunes Rock Album Chart. The single, “Hero” has been used in multiple TV productions as theme and background music including the NFL pregame soundtrack, multiple WWE videogames, and the trailer for “Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief”. The bands current roster consists of John Cooper (lead vocal and founder), Korey Cooper (vocals and keyboard), Jen Ledger (vocals and drums) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar). Skillet Highlights: • Hit single “Comatose” won Rock Recorded Song of the Year in 2008. • Won Billboard Music Awards - Top Christian Album for Awake in 2011. • Nominated for Billboards Music Awards - Top Christian Artist in 2012. • Have over 150 million YouTube views and four million Facebook fans. • Top Hits include: o “Rise” o “Whispers in the Dark” o “Monster” Skillet - Tuesday, October 8 @ 7 p.m. – Ticket Prices: $25/$20
