2016 Sam Costa Half and Quarter Marathon FAQ’s Thank you for signing up for the 2016 Sam Costa Half or Quarter Marathon. Here’s a summary of information about the race. We’ll do our best to get back with you before the race. Race Date/Time/Location: Saturday, March 19, 2016 Northview Church (12900 Hazel Dell Parkway, Carmel, IN 46033) 9:00am EDT – Half marathon starts from the northwest corner of the main parking lot 9:10am EDT – Quarter marathon starts from the southwest corner of the main parking lot Parking: Free in the on-site church parking lots Packet Pick-up/On-site Registration: Race morning only in the church from 7:00-8:45am EDT. Registration will still be available for both distances. On-site registration will cost $55 for the half marathon and $45 for the quarter marathon. Race Transfers / Changing Races: Transfer information: http://www.samcosta.com/images/2016TransferEntry.pdf Changing race distance: http://www.samcosta.com/images/2016ChangeRaces.pdf If you are transferring an entry or changing race distances after March 13th, please see the information at the applicable link under “At the race”. Gear Check: There is none, but you can put your clothes in your car since it’s right outside the door. Time Limits: Three hours for both the half marathon and the quarter marathon. Medals: a. Optional finisher medals were available for the half marathon only for an added fee. You must finish the race to receive a medal. If you ordered a medal but don’t complete the race, we will refund the price of the medal. If you still want to purchase a medal but haven’t done so, extras may be available on race day. (No medals are available for the quarter marathon.) b. Medals will also be distributed to the first 50 overall finishers regardless of gender in the half marathon. (No medals will be distributed in the quarter marathon.) Age Group Awards: Awards will be given to the top 3 overall finishers in the Open and Masters (40+) divisions of both the half and quarter marathons. Age group awards will be distributed according to the entry distribution as of March 8, 2016, beginning with 19 & under and ending with 75 & over. Listen for announcements at the race regarding the time for the award ceremonies. Fluids on the Course: Both water and Lemon-Lime Gatorade will be available at each aid station. The half marathon has 6 aid stations. The quarter marathon has 4 aid stations. Shirts: Participants who signed up by the regular registration deadline (March 8, 2016) will receive a shortsleeved, gender-specific technical shirt. We’ll do our best to ensure every registrant after that also receives a shirt, but we can’t guarantee those registrants will receive one on race day. The following shirt sizes are available: S, M, L, XL, XXL ($3 more for XXL). Portable Toilets: Portable toilets will be available just outside the church and at select locations on the course. Medical Treatment: Athletic trainers will be available to offer first aid near the finish line should you need support. Course Maps: The course maps and elevation charts are available online at http://www.samcosta.com/course.html. Race Results: Following the race, the official race results will be available online by going to http://onlineraceresults.com and doing a search for “Sam Costa”. Vintage Sam Costa Clothing: Sam Costa apparel from previous years will be available for sale at the race site. All proceeds will go to the Indy Runners Scholarship fund.
