Good examples A Google search for Aspley Uniting Church shows their website plus extra information on the righthand side: a photo, map, contact details and church office hours. This extra information is possible to list even if your church doesn’t have a website. In Google Maps, a search for Logan Uniting Church shows the location, address, office hours, website and phone number. Maximising your church information on Google The process for maximising your church information depends on whether your church is already recognised by Google Maps. What happens when you search [church suburb] uniting church? If no map displays, or if the map shows other nearby churches, follow the steps in the section below “Add your church”. If a map showing your church comes up, but you want to improve that information, skip the next section of this guide and follow the steps in “Edit your church information”. Add your church 1. Go to www.google.com.au/mapmaker 2. Login with a Google account. This can be your Gmail address, your YouTube or Blogger account, or you can create an account for free. 3. Enter the suburb or town name of your church into the Google search bar, and zoom in to where your church is located. 4. Click the red “Add New” button, and select “Add a Place”. Add the marker to where your church is located (near the entrance is good). 5. For the category, type “Uniting Church”, “Church” or “Place of Worship”. 6. Enter the name of your church, e.g. Bundaberg Uniting Church, and click “Continue”. 7. You can then enter the church details on the left-hand side of the screen: your church address, phone number, website, and the hours your church is open. 8. Click “Save” to finish. Edit your church information 1. Go to www.google.com.au/mapmaker 2. Login with a Google account. This can be your Gmail address, your YouTube or Blogger account, or you can create an account for free. 3. Enter the suburb or town name of your church into the Google search bar, and zoom in to where your church is located. 4. Above the map, click “Edit”, then “Select a Place”, and click on the church’s marker. 5. If the marker needs moving, drag it to an appropriate location like the building entrance. 6. To add/update church information, click on the marker. From the pop-up window with the church’s name, choose the “Edit” option, and “Edit Place”. 7. You can then edit the church details on the left-hand side of the screen: the church address, phone number, website, and the hours your church is open. 8. Click “Save” to finish. Reviewing The changes might not take effect immediately, but will occur. Changes are reviewed by other users to help prevent false edits, but once someone has reviewed your edit it will be updated on Google. Any questions?
