R
ice Event Recap
We are very proud of the tremendous success of
the Rice Event and appreciate all of the hard work
of the committee, volunteers and staff that made
it happen. Over 100 members and guests attended
and enjoyed a screening of the
“The History of Turner Hill”.
The documentary was written, directed and narrated by John Tomlin, and co-produced by Tomlin
and George Markos. The event included displays
of memorabilia, furnishings, apparel, historic photos and room tours.
Members of the Rice family attended the event and
told stories of what it was like to visit the mansion
as children. The Rice family lived in the historic
English manor house from 1904 until 1945.

essage from Brian Pelland
I hope you have been enjoying the season
so far. There are so many things to comment
on.
We had a great Kentucky Derby party as our official kickoff to the season. The annual Fireworks
& BBQ was greatly attended and the fireworks
show was the best yet! Stay tuned for details on
our Guest Chef series, Cornhole tournament
and other great events. In the meantime, come
to the Grille for a lively pasta night on Wednesdays, relaxing lunch on the deck or some of the
best cuisine on the North Shore with Chef Bill’s
dinner menu and weekly specials.
The new kids recreation room is getting a lot of
action. If you haven’t been down there yet, come
see what others having been raving about!

Ann is one of our longest standing employees…she
started during the early days of Ted Raymond bartending events in the Mansion before a golf course
existed. Ann is a hard worker and familiar face behind
the Grille bar and at many of our member events. She
is also a key employee for all of the weddings and golf
outings. She has represented Turner Hill well over the
years and we appreciate her dedication!

The Turner Hill Garden Club members have been busy
with planting, watering and maintaining our gardens
since planting began in late April. Members of the THGC
are all volunteers dedicating a significant amount of time
during the growing season in the overall maintenance of
the club’s gardens.
Turner Hill
G a r d e n Club
The biggest challenge we have with the gardens is the watering given there is no irrigation and limited access to
water. Our members are hand watering daily which is a tedious task, but necessary in the development of these
new gardens. We have a daily members’ rotational schedule to insure we do not lose any of the plantings.
Contributing Garden Club Members
Patti Beckwith, Kay Kormushoff, Heidi Donovan, Anne LaMonica,
Mia MacDougall, Richard Greenberg, Betsy Howell, Gail Hall
The plantings in these gardens consist of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and herbs. Below are the gardens and
urns that have been planted this year. Be sure and tour around and view them all.

In addition to the Turner Hill Garden Club Members several additional people (noted below) have contributed to
the gardens’ overall beautification.
•
Generous husbands of Garden Club Members helping greatly with the heavy lifting
•
Pro Shop Staff and Pool Staff for assistance with watering
•
John Sadowski and Mynor Lapop for your on-going support and work effort
•
Several Golf Club Members who have made financial contributions to the further development of the gardens and addition of urns and plantings. We would not have been able to tackle as many areas of enhancement
without your generous contributions early in the season.
And lastly to those individuals who have stopped to say Thank You to the Garden Club Members who have and
are working hard to improve the Turner Hill Golf Club experience. It means so much! Please continue to do so.
If you have any questions, suggestions for future garden improvements, would like to make a donation, or are
interested in joining please reach out to Gail Hall. [email protected] 978 314 5342

Golf News
Dear Members,
As we approach the middle of July, the golf season is in full swing! We hope that everyone has had a
chance to participate in the various member events so far this year. June began with the first major of the
year – The Member-Member. Congratulations to the Men’s Champions – Ned Yetten & Paul Montecalvo
and the Women’s Champions – Mary Beth Girvan & Emma Karrlsson-Willis. The top 8 men’s teams and
top 4 Ladies teams also advanced to this year’s Fourball matches. The month culminated with a successful
Women’s 9-hole Member-Guest and another sold out 9 & Dine coupled with a fantastic fireworks display.
As we look ahead, the calendar is packed with member events. We look forward to the upcoming Women’s
18-hole Member-Guest and clambake followed closely by the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships.
Also, the Men’s and Women’s Rice Cups are both progressing nicely as we move into the round of 16.
Other upcoming events include: July 9 & Dine, Assistant’s Challenge, Senior Club Championships, August
9 & Dine, 2nd Annual Turner Hill Cup and the Couples Classic. We encourage all members to sign up for
these events and hope to see participation continue to grow.
As always, it is our goal to create a wonderful golf experience for you and your guests and to continue to
improve as an operation. Suggestions, feedback and constructive criticism are always welcomed by the
Golf Staff and Golf Committee. If there are areas in which you would like to see improvement, please do
not hesitate to contact us. We wish everyone a happy and healthy summer and hope to see you on the
course soon!
