Geometry PAP Summer Packet
Due Date: Friday, September 4, 2015
Directions: This will count as a test grade. You must solve the problems on
notebook (or graph) paper using the method(s) indicated. All work must be clearly
shown. A STAAR Mathematics Formula Chart is attached. We will encounter
many of these types of problems in PAP Geometry; therefore, it is important that
you review these concepts. Should you need a refresher on these concepts, we
encourage you to go to the following link:(underscore is between “go” and “mt”)

I.
Solve the following Literal Equations (2pts.each)
1. Distance formula – Solve for t:
D = rt
2. Area of a trapezoid – Solve for h:
A = ½ h (b1 + b2)
3. Circumference of a circle - Solve for r:
C = 2r
4. Volume of a cone – Solve for h:
V = (1/3) r2h
II.
Finding Equations of Lines (6pts. each)

IV. Solve the following Quadratic Equations by Factoring. (5pts. each)
Don’t forget to set your equations to equal “0” first.
15. 4x2 – 9 = 0
17. x3- 24x = 5x2
V.
16. y2 – 24y + 144 = 0
18. 3x2 + 16x = 35
Solve the following Quadratic Equations using the Quadratic Formula. Don’t
forget to set your equations to equal “0” first. Leave answers in simplest
radical form. (2pts. each)
19. -2x2 +8x + 3 = 1
21. 3x2 - 5x = -1
20. 2y2 - 8y + 5 = 0
22. 3x2 + 2 = -8x
VI. Sketch reasonable graphs of the following. Use the attached graph paper.
(2pts. each)
23. y = 2x – 3
25. 4x + 3y = 12
24. y = x2 – 4
26. x = -2
VII. Solve the following Systems of Equations. (4pts. each)
27. y = x – 3
4x + y = 32
28. 2x = 5y
x+y=1
29. –x + 8y = 16
3x + 4y = 36
30. 5x + 4y = 4
