HO CHI
MINH CITY
Ho Chi Minh City began its existence as a small Khmer
fishing village named Prey Nokor (forest kingdom)
more than 1,000 years ago. In the 1600’s the city was
gradually settled by the Vietnamese until it was renamed
Saigon under the Nguyen emperors in the 1800’s. Now
she is celebrated as Ho Chi Minh City, rechristened
after the reunification of the country. We invite you to
explore her with us.
The half day tour begins with the Reunification Palace,
formerly known as the Presidential Palace. This building
was the scene of the handover of Saigon as North
Vietnamese tanks rushed through its gates seizing the
city on the morning of April 30, 1975.You will then
continue to the Central Post Office designed and
constructed by Gustave Eiffel, then to the Notre Dame
Cathedral and Cho Lon, the city’s Chinatown district.
Next stop is to discover a Sino-Vietnamese Buddhist
Pagoda Thien Hau - dedicated to the goddess of the Sea.
Thereafter, a Cyclo ride will take you through the
bustling street of District 1. At the end we stop at Ben
Thanh — the central market for the city and one of its
liveliest areas. Finally you have the option to be dropped
off at the hotel or to one of Ho Chi Minh City’s local
restaurants for an authentic Vietnamese meal. Enquire
for meal pricing and options with our Concierge.

unveiling the history of
HO CHI MINH CITY
This full-day tour begins in the heart of District 1 by discovering the current US
Consulate General (viewed from the outside), which was the former US Embassy in
the 1960s. Once said to be the city’s most heavily guarded building, the embassy was
damaged during the notorious TET Offensive in 1968. See where the Americans and
Vietnamese were evacuated by helicopter from the rooftop during the last days of the
Fall of Saigon in 1975.
Travel to District 3 to view the Archbishop’s Palace (from the outside), which was
originally built in 1790 for the French Bishop of Adran, who tutored one of King
Gia Long’s sons, Prince Canh. Stroll along Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, pass by the
monument of Thich Quang Duc and continue walking through narrow alleyways into
local neighbourhoods to learn more about daily life in Ho Chi Minh City.
Visit the Secret Weapons Hiding Place Museum in District 3, where nearly three
tons of weapons were kept in a cellar by Saigon commandos. Travel to the iconic
Reunification Palace, which was the home and workplace of the president of South
Vietnam. Continue to Notre Dame and the Post Office, both built during the French
colonial period.
Before travelling back to the hotel, drive to the Jade Emperor Pagoda, which was built
in 1909 in honour of the Jade Emperor of Taoism, and then visit the Fine Arts Museum,
which houses the city’s most important collections and is one of the city’s most
impressive buildings.
