Additional Daily Masses: Fr. Dwight Birket will be offering daily Masses this week in Mt. Vernon at
9:00am. Masses will be held on: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Brian Bergkamp Memorial Food Drive: In honor of a great man and to benefit the Lord's Diner,
there is a community wide Food Drive taking placaat all of the Area catholic Church Main Entrances on
Saturday and Sunday September 24th _25th • In particular we are looking to collect the following items:
Rice, Beans, Pasta, Applesauce, Coffee, Sugar, Salt, and LARGE cans of Fruits and Vegetables. If you
prefer to make a monetary donation instead, donations can be made out and mailed to The Lord's
Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67214. Please honor Brian by letting them know your donation
was made in his name. Thank you to everyone for your generosity in this worthwhile event!

Holy Name Meeting: There will be a meeting THIS Tuesday, September 13th following a Rosary in
the Church at 7:30pm. All Men of the Parish are automatically a member of the Holy Name Society
and are encouraged to attend meetings whenever possible. We hope to see you there!
Adoration Hour Available: We are in need of someone to fill an Adoration Hour in the Chapel from
Ilpm-12am on Wednesday Evenings. If you would like this hour or if you have an earlier hour and

St. Anne's Altar Society Quilt Bingo: Mark your calendars for Quilt Bingo Sunday, September 25th
in Ost Gym. Doors will open at 12:30pm, and the games will begin at 2pm. Lunch will be available.
21 handmade quilts with the choice of 1st quilt to be auctioned to the highest bidder with 20 games to
follow. Please invite your family and friends to join us. Thank you for your support!
Altar Society: The Worklists for the Quilt Bingo are in the back of Church. If you are unable to work
your assigned time, please switch with another as a replacement. We need EVERYONE'S help!

Quilt Raffle/Bingo: The St. Mark Altar Society Quilt Raffle/Bingo is THIS Sunday, September 11th.
Bingo will be held in the Parish Hall. Doors open at 11am for lunch and bingo starts at Ipm. There will
be 21 cash Bingo games in addition to the raffle for 2 Handstitched Queen Quilts. Bierocks, BBQ beef
sandwiches, homemade pies, chips and drinks will be served. We hope you are able to join us!

"Score for the Lord": A Eucharistic Adoration Event to be held at the Trinity Catholic football field
end-zone. This event will take place on Friday night, September 23 rd approximately 10 minutes after
the completion of the Trinity vs Sedgwick game. All people, of all ages are welcomed and strongly
encouraged to attend! Br.ing blankets or lawn chairs for seating if desired. Snacks and social time for
the youth will take place after the adoration. "Score for the Lord" is hosted by Trinity Catholic Campus

Goddard Benefit: Holy Spirit Catholic School's Annual Benefit Dinner & Auction will be held at

September 11 til, 2016 - Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today's readings tell of the mercy of God the Father toward his children. Although God wanted to
punish the Israelites for turning to golden idols, He relented and had mercy on them. Saul persecuted
the early Christians, yet the Lord had mercy on him and asked him to tell the Gentiles the Good News.
In the parable of the prodigal son, the father has mercy on his son and welcomes him home. Jesus
also shares with his followers that heaven rejoices when a sinner repents and turns back to God. May
we realize the extent of God's mercy to us and bestow mercy on those who have wronged us.
