Professionalism is
Defined by the

or CfH
20 years of pontificating and
arguing ?
20 years of pontificating and
arguing ?
But does it really matter ?
If only I was………..
If only I was a professional
– If only I was a professional like the people in finance I would…..
• Be taken notice of in my organisation when I asked for
investment in IM&T.
• Make changes in the way the organisation works to the
benefits of patients
• Be seen as a key strategic leader because of the strategic
projects I run.
• Have a team of competent professional staff working for me

• Be on the Trust Board.
• Earn lots more money

• A specific qualification
• Membership of a specific group
• Or even the name
– The things we do
– The way we do them
– The outcomes we achieve
– The behaviours we display
– The skills and competences we bring and
develop.
So qualifications and
membership are
Not Important ?
