News from Bacilio and Eunice Alfaro Dear Praying Friends, Greetings in the name of our Lord. What a privilege we have to serve our great Lord. In our last note to you, Bacilio had been ill, and when we went to Culiacan, Sinaloa, where he was to have surgery, he was not in condition for an operation. We were to wait thirty days and then he was to be retested. We had been praying that if it was not the Lord’s will for him to have surgery, the Lord would close the door. We stayed busy while in Culiacan, supply preaching, and even traveling a couple of times to other Mexican states to participate in conferences, as well as getting rest and building up Bacilio’s strength. When Bacilio was retested he checked out fine to have surgery, but in the meantime the doctor had gone on vacation, the new school year was quickly approaching in Puerto Rico at Puerto Rico Baptist College (PRBC), and we felt that time had run out and the Lord had closed the door once again. All that to say this—Bacilio did not have surgery. We do feel that the Lord used that time to get some health issues resolved and to rest and regain Bacilio’s health. We are constantly on the move and from time to time the batteries have a need to be recharged. Thank you to all who were praying for us. We greatly depend on your prayers and could do nothing without them. While we were in Culiacan, Eunice had an accident and fell down the stairs of the home where we were staying. She was headed directly toward a large window which the Lord protected her from hitting. Thank the Lord, she did not break anything, although she still has some back and ankle pain. Bacilio went to PRBC where the opening evangelistic meetings were of tremendous blessing in the lives of the students, as well as the staff. Please pray with us that the Lord will keep the revival fires burning in our hearts and that it will not dim with the workload and cares of this life. We have a low student-body count as the year started out with only 14 students. Another will be coming in January, Lord willing. There are others who would like to come; but, as of yet, there is no monetary funding for scholarships to help them out with their schooling. We also believe that the Lord is waiting until He has supplied all the teaching and staff personnel that are needed. He gave us a boy’s dorm supervisor at the last minute, who will be arriving in October, as he had to give notice at his work before he could come. The Lord also supplied a part-time secretary, also at the last minute. That short string of dependence on Him is still working. Why do we unnecessarily worry and stew when our Lord is at the helm? He is so gracious. We just returned from Managua, Nicaragua, from a family conference, where it is their winter. (Winter, I say? That means that the temperature is a little lower than in the summer [now in the lower 90’s], but it rains during that time. That just gives it the sauna effect.) We are presently in an anniversary conference in the Atlanta area; then we will go on to Charleston, SC, after which we will head to El Salvador. Please pray as we travel. It is increasingly more difficult to get into some countries if they have any idea that you are in the Gospel ministry. The devil is hard at work the world over, but, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (I John 4:4). Thank you all for your prayers and financial support. Without you folks, we could not do what the Lord has sent us to do. May the Lord continue to bless and use you for His honor and glory. In the hollow of our Lord’s hands, Bacilio & Eunice Alfaro
