Sentinel-3 Marine Centre at EUMETSAT
Copernicus Sentinel-3 Programme is co-funded by ESA and EC.
A third party programme has been established at EUMETSAT to
contribute to the Sentinel-3 mission in three main aspects:
- Support ESA during the Ground Segment development
- Carry out Sentinel-3 spacecraft operations
- Host the Sentinel-3 Marine Centre: The instrument data
processing will be distributed, and EUMETSAT will be
responsible for the processing and dissemination of L2 marine
products

Data access – EUMETCast
In Near Real Time, EUMETCast – the
operational multi-cast system of EUMETSAT –
will be used to disseminate All Ocean data and
in all EUMETCast beams (Europe, Africa, South
America)
In addition, as part of GEONETCast - in
partnership with NOAA, CMA, WMO – all data
could be made available to the global user
community - if requested.

Summary and conclusions
- EUMETSAT commitment to long term sustained marine
environment monitoring services through our core ground
segment
- Reinforcing our capability to provide end user services through close
partnerships with the SAFs and MyOcean2
- Expanding our product catalogue through several bilateral data
exchange agreements with other satellite providers and
environmental agencies
- Sentinel-3 providing a continuation of ENVISAT/CRYOSAT data series,
but with the operational mission twist in the context of Copernicus
– basis for EUMETSAT involvement
- Sentinel-3 Marine Centre will be hosted by EUMETSAT, data
dissemination and access re-using existing capabilities
