Over time various different codes and synonyms have been used in different contexts for the concept of a "lesion" and/or findings​
about a lesion, and some uses of these uses are now deemed "inappropriate" in SNOMED.​

Replace uses of M-01000 that have a synonym of "Lesion" (inappropriate synonym in SNOMED) with the preferred name in SNOMED,​
"Morphologically abnormal structure".​

Clean up uses of M-01000 that have correct (acceptable) synonyms to use "Morphologically abnormal structure" rather than variants​
of it.​

In addition, SNOMED also contains a different code M-01100 (SCT:52988006, UMLS:C0221198), which is "Lesion (morphologic​
abnormality)", and is a child of M-01000, which is not currently in the DICOM-SNOMED subset but has been requested (SIRS​
Request ID 710711 Batch ID 710721), and is added to provide support for the more specific concept.​

(F-03FCD, SRT, "Lesion Finding") is not an appropriate substitute for M-01000, since it refers to the characteristics of lesions, rather​
than the lesion per se.​
