Under 11 Club Knock Out Competition 2016 Rules 1. All boys/girls taking part in this competition shall be members of clubs affiliated to the Lancashire Cricket Board, and must be U11 on 1st September prior to the start of the season of the competition. The MCC Laws of Cricket (2000 Code 5th Edition-2013) shall apply with the following exceptions: 2. The pitch shall be 20 yards in length (ECB recommendation) 3. The ball shall weigh 4.75 ounces. 4. Each team shall comprise eight players. 5. Each game shall consist of one innings per side. Each innings shall be of 20 overs in duration (clubs can agree on playing 16 overs in individual fixtures in time / conditions dictate) 6. The batting side shall be divided into pairs. Each pair shall bat for one quarter of the total number of overs. Pairs shall change at five over intervals (four overs in 16 over games). 7. Batsmen shall have unlimited ‘lives’ but each ‘life’ shall result in eight runs being deducted from the total. No batsman who is out for any reason shall face the next ball. Batsmen shall change ends at the fall of a wicket, except on the last ball of an over. 8. Each boy/girl on the fielding side MUST bowl, with the exception of the wicket-keeper. No boy/girl shall bowl more than 4 overs (3 overs in a 16 over game). 9. Each team shall commence its innings with a score of two hundred runs. 10. The winning side shall be the team scoring the highest number of runs after deductions for the fall of wickets. In the event of scores being equal, the team losing the fewer wickets shall be the winner, failing this the 8 players of each team shall bowl at the stumps with the highest number of hits determining the winning team. N.B In each individual fixture teams may agree before the toss an alternative way to split the two teams where the result is tied. (this rule has been amended for 2016). 11. In ALL matches, no fielder, except the wicket keeper, shall be allowed to field nearer than 11 yards, measured from the centre of middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off-side. 12. Helmets SHALL be worn by all players when batting, by wicket keepers when standing up to the stumps, and by close fielders in front of the wicket. Boys shall also wear an abdominal protector. 13. In the event of the umpires being satisfied that a player is incapacitated, his/her place may be taken by a reserve who shall bat/bowl in his/her place. If no reserve is available, any deliveries due to bowled by the injured player shall be bowled by another player without exceeding his/her quota. The captain of the fielding side shall choose one of the players in the first three pairs to bat a second time in the fourth pair.
