Welcome to the seventh edition of the Bournmoor Star. We hope you enjoy reading about all the latest events at
Bournmoor Primary School as we begin a new school year.
Expo Chef by Eleanor and Lydia
On the 18th September Expo Chef came
to our school. His name was John. He
cooked 4 dishes with us. They were:

Potato salad
Vegetable soup
Vegetable cottage pie
Fruit rice pudding
Funding for our Wildlife Garden by Lydia and
Eleanor
Lydia, Eleanor, Mrs Snowdon and Lewis went to
a presentation behind the garden centre. The
place we went was called Cestria Housing. The
money is going to be used for a wildlife
classroom outside for the whole school. The
place is going to go behind the willows on the
field. The money will be used for bird boxes
and things like that. There was a photographer

the cheque handed to me!” Mrs Snowdon said
“I’m really looking forward to developing our
wild life area.” Eleanor said “I’m into nature so
I think it will be a great success.” Lydia said “it
was fun getting handed the big cheque.” We
will write another article when the wildlife area
is completed and being used.

Isobel said the rice pudding was very,
very good. Joe said he tasted the
vegetable cottage pie and he said it
tasted delicious and good.
John was very proud of our behaviour
and said he would be happy to come back
any time to Bournmoor Primary School.

How long ago did you start being a vicar? 7
years ago.
How long have you been a governor? 3 years
Do you like your job? Yes, you have different
days and you haven’t a clue what’ll happen next.
When did you do your first christening? My
first ever one was in 2005 and my first one in
Bournmoor was in 2009.
Why did you want to be a vicar? Before I was a
vicar I was in an insurance company and talked
to a friend and her husband, who was a vicar,
and that’s how I got the idea of being a vicar.
Do you have any children? I have two. One
called Hannah and she is 10. I also have
Rebecca who is 15.
When did you start thinking of being a vicar?
1999
What do you get out of being a vicar? The
school is an important part of the community
and if you help the school you help the
community.

The Big Bang was an explosion that created
the whole Universe. About 14 billion years ago,
the Universe exploded outwards from a hot,
dense bubble that was smaller than a pinhead.
The Universe quickly grew larger than a galaxy
and kept on expanding. As it slowly cooled, tiny
particles (pieces) within it joined and began to
form the stars and planets. The Big Bang
exploded from a tiny point called a singularity!

school? About 100 in the school
What have you enjoyed in our school?
School premises, the students, the
teachers and the behaviour (children were
polite with good discipline).
What would you improve about our school?
Nothing (but he has improved his English
he said!)
How many children do you have? Two. I
have a boy and a girl.
What food do you like? Rice and curry –
spicy foods are my favourite!
What is different about UK and Sri Lanka?
It is cold here and wet and the language is
different of course.
What time does your school open and
close? 7:30am – 1:30pm
