INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SHLUCHOS
19-24 Shevat, 5770 • February 3-8, 2010
LUBAVITCH WORLD HEADQUARTERS
770 Eastern Parkway, Crown Heights, New York
WELCOME TO THE
22ND ANNUAL
KINUS HASHLUCHOS!
5770/2010 ohaav ,ba
A
s Shluchos world round we are maturing , we are
withstanding difficult moments with dignity,
internalizing important lessons and finding renewed
strength in our sisterhood. As a family, almost 4000 strong, we
gather in an atmosphere of kedusha, to listen and to learn, to
share and to gain.
vcdbu vbpmu vnseu vnh ,mrpu, from far and wide, world over, each
Shlucha has made great effort to participate, to be here, to stand
1
up and be counted, so that our very numbers bear witness to
the phenomenon of our growth that defies any explanation.
In response, Merkos Linyonei Chinuch, has invested ever
greater resources and attention to make this year’s Kinus a
rewarding event for each participating Shlucha. For this we
thank you, and we recommit our steadfastness and
determination to advance the wishes of the Rebbe gWhz.
The Kinus is a forum for introducing new ideas and for seeking
creative solutions to the different challenges that occur in the
life of a Shlucha. Towards this end, the program is replete with
presentations covering many of our Shlichus activities. There is
a focus on introspection and opportunities to discuss and deal
with each Shlucha’s individual personal development.
The 22nd Yahrzeit of the passing of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka
vWg, is a significant year for the Kinus. It is therefore especially
important to experience the spiritual growth and deepened
Hiskashrus with the Rebbe that the Kinus hopes to advance.
We have dedicated specific sessions towards this goal and to
delving into the inspiring sources that guide us day to day.
For the Shluchos of Eretz Yisroel and the CIS, this year’s
program holds added delights in a group of workshops and
sessions directed to your needs.
The solidarity among Shluchos, the experience of od ohjt ,ca
sjh, has proven to be a tremendous bolstering and exhilarating
benefit of the Kinus. It is our hope that each of you will leave
this year’s Kinus nurtured and fortified in both practical and
spiritual terms, giving you the provisions to grow and new skills
to succeed in your respective Makom HaShlichus.
Many thanks to the Vaad HaKinus and all Shluchos who
participated in developing this year’s Kinus conference. They
have voluntarily devoted long hours, expertise, much thought
and attention to make this a memorable experience for you.
Merkos Mentors
This year once again a mentoring program will be hosted. The
offices at Merkos enlisted the help of many Shluchos with
expertise and experience in dealing with specific Shlichus issues.
Shluchim and Shluchos are available throughout the Kinus for
one-on-one discussions. Shluchos may sign up for individual
sessions. These initial consultations will be followed up with
guidance from the mentoring Shluchos throughout the year as
needed. This program offers a guidance and counseling service
as well as an advice and referral center. There is a list of
available shluchos / mentors and their individual
specialties on line.
For further information and to register please visit
www.MerkosMentors.com .

the hours of the Kinus. Please remember that your baby may be
unaccustomed to his/her new surroundings and as a result, the
babysitter may need your attention at any time. Please bring

Quiet nursing babies will be welcome at the sessions, please sit
near the door.
There will be a raffle drawing for the recorded day’s programming for those shluchos who fill in evaluation sheets. We build
next year’s Kinus program with your input. Make a difference
and take a few minutes to share your comments.
Our thanks and appreciation to the extended Vaad coordinating all aspects of the Kinus, together with the New York based
committees. Their names appear at the end of this booklet.
The Hanholas HaKinus has arranged for the Rebbe's Room and
Library to be open for Shluchos on Thursday evening, from
9:00 to 10:30 pm, Friday evening from 8:45 to 9:30 and on Motzoei Shabbos, from 7:15 to 8:15 pm. This year all Shluchos will

We wish you an enjoyable and inspiring Kinus!

Moderator: Mrs. Molly Resnick, New York, NY

The goal of chinuch is not that the child should grow up to be a
'gadol hador', however that they should grow to be a 'Torah-Yid'
and not uWj in any other way.
The first condition to fulfilling this with the child is that he should
see a role model – dugma chaya…

CHILDREN ARE THE
GREATEST AUTHORS
CRAVINGS TO
Incorporating literacy in your preschool classroom should
be fun and exciting. In this innovative and interactive workshop you will learn how to write books with young children
using their narrations, illustrations, photographs and their
own creative stories. Children as young as 2 will love to
"read" their very own books while the way is paved to reading and writing readiness. Teachers (and mommies) can use
this creative tool to instill self esteem and pride in children
as they become life long lovers of books.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN
YOU’RE NOT EXPECTING
At whatever age, through any stage, busy Shluchos face
daily juggling challenges. Whether it is 6 under the age of
6, feeling torn between a parent and child, or even how to
help with grandchildren while directing a busy Mosed.
This workshop will entertain and provide a wholesome and
realistic outlook on expectations and how to best meet
them.
Dr. Sarah Barris, will lead a workshop exploring
the emotional toll infertility has on couples and
what you can do to help. Learn about different
organizations available to provide emotional,

SECOND STAGE, NEW WAVE
Motzoei
Shabbos
As parents of children with special needs we will strive
to appreciate the ramifications of the Rebbe’s teachings
on this topic. The Zchus that we have and how to apply
these thoughts in our day to day dealings with our children and their environment. There will be a frank and
honest exchange on how to keep our chins up, multi task
and educate ourselves of the newest and latest therapies.
This workshop is going to deal with changing and
expanding family needs. Families with young children at home, dealing with Shidduchim, married
children and the Bracha of aging parents and
more. Now add to that a component, to reevaluate
and freshen your Shlichus too. Sounds easy,
doesn't it ?

In several vital areas for the Jewish people, the woman takes a
supremely important place. One of them is the unity of the family. In her hand lies the key for unity between parents and children, between the parents themselves and the children
themselves. In this area it is clear that the woman/mother supersedes over the husband/father, and that is one of the reasons
she is called the 'foundation of her home'. It is also clear that
the unity of Israel in a general way is dependant on the (specific) unity of the (individual) family. When the unity is G-d
forbid missing from the individual family, we can't expect unity
from one family to another.
