ITNCoastalCT provides all day, every day transportation for seniors and
take their senior neighbors and visually impaired
visually impaired adults. By summer’s end ITN completed well over 4500
adults to any number of activities – social gather-
rides. Who will be driving and riding for #5000? It could be YOU!
Ride #1 and #500
Ruth Rubin of Norwalk, who was the first ITN rider in
November 2010, also had the distinction of taking the
500th ride in May 2011 – picked up at the Y’s Women of
ings, shopping, medical appointments, religious
services – the list is a long one. The program area
includes Westport, Weston, Wilton, Easton, Fairfield, and Norwalk. The commitment is only one

noon, and other dates are available upon request.

“The transportation system provides a wonderful solution to the problem
of advancing age. You really are housebound and you may become isolated, but

there is social contact and conversation between riders and the volunteers, who
are exceptional and a pleasure to deal with.”

I’m honored to be associated with ITNCoastalCT, joining the organization in May 2009 after a multi-year stint as program director at
the Weston Senior Center where I saw on a first-hand basis the need
for safe, reliable transportation for seniors. From a first month ride
count of 6 to an almost 400-a-month ride count currently - and no
abatement in sight! - this community-supported nonprofit meets the
ever-growing need. We provide members peace

timely, efficient, and caring manner. In addition to scheduling
rides, she works with the volunteer drivers who provide about 60%
of the rides for our daily schedule. A Weston native and graduate of
Indiana University, Justine always has a cheerful smile and is quick to
provide information to potential members and drivers.
I encourage everyone who wants to keep our community a vibrant,
safe place to join us at ITNCoastalCT. Offer to drive, work on a committee, attend an event...there are so many ways to help!
