THE COMPETITION What makes BBC Cardiff Singer of the World so magical? •BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is a life-changing experience for 20 young singers from across the globe. •Selected from the hundreds that apply – our finalists have the chance to perform in front of a jury of distinguished opera experts. • Two world class orchestras – BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Thomas Søndergård and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, conducted by Martyn Brabbins. • Performances broadcast across the BBC to audiences around the UK and beyond. • The five strongest singers are selected to compete in the exhilarating final. The Song Prize With the Song Prize, our singers are truly under the spotlight, it’s just them, a piano and some of the most beautiful Lieder and art songs in the repertoire. Incredible performances accompanied by pianists Llŷr Williams and Simon Lepper. The Audience Prize Once again, our audiences will get to vote for their favourite singer, with the Audience Prize presented during the grand final. Intimate recitals at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, with the final at St David’s Hall. Cardiff Sings! The Main Prize and Song Prize Final will return to Wales’ national concert hall, St David’s Hall. The Song Prize recitals will return to the state of the art Dora Stoutzker Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The Personal Assistant/Carer discount is available for selected events. Access St David’s Hall and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama are accessible to patrons in wheelchairs.
