It is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore at 36m above Henderson Road. Its distinctive wave-like structure comes from seven undulating curved “ribs” that alternately go above and below the bridge deck. Where these “ribs” rise over the deck, they form alcoves that provide shelter to visitors. The deck itself is made of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in Southeast Asia. Source: Chew, 2008 One of the oldest parks in Singapore, Mount Faber Park is a popular tourist destination, offering visitors a host of activities. Take a cable car from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island and enjoy the stunning view of the horizon from above. Alternatively, you can gaze through the telescopes at one of the many lookout points that are situated at various sides of the ridge for a panoramic view of the southern part of Singapore and the southern islands. Delve into our nation’s natural heritage at Faber Point, the highest point in the park, where a mural wall depicts scenes of local historical events, and where the tree that was planted during the first Tree Planting Day stands. Mount Faber is covered by a secondary rain forest. The vegetation on the slope helps to stabilise the terrain besides beautifying the park. The park is part of the Southern Ridges, which also comprises Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. extracted from: www.nparks.gov.sg Mount Faber Park 109 Mount Faber Road, S(099203) Photo: faberpeaksingapore. com Conference Dinner Keppel Hall @ Keppel Club 10 Bukit Chermin Road, S(109918) Photo: Keppel Club Stephen Riady Centre, NUS 50 min bus ride 60 min of walking Take bus 963 from Aft NUS High Sch (opp. Stephen Riady Centre, along Clementi Road) Alight after 5 stops (SP Jain) Gillman Barracks 9 Lock Road, S(108937) Photo: Gillman Barracks Walk 350m.
