A Lucky Day?
It was Saturday afternoon, and all George wanted to do was to play a game of tennis. He hadn’t played in a long
time, so even though he looked all around the house for an hour, he couldn’t find his racket. He jumped in his car
and started driving to the store to buy a new one, and noticed he was almost out of gas. Just then he saw flashing
lights in his rearview mirror. The cop pulled him over, told him he was going 80 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone,
and wrote him a ticket. George was so mad that when he started driving again, he forgot to stop for gas. After a few
minutes, the car stalled. He pulled off the road, and after kicking the tires and yelling for a while, he walked to the
nearest gas station, bought a can of gas, walked back to his car, and filled the tank. As he was about to get back in
the car, a huge truck drove by and splashed dirty road water all over him. Finally he got to the store, soaking wet,
and as he walked in, whistles blew and bells rang, and everyone in the store started clapping. “Congratulations!”
said the store manager, “It’s your lucky day!” “It is?” said George. “Yes!” the manger replied, “You are the 500th
customer today, and you just won a brand new set of tennis rackets!”
