Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery
New Kent County, Virginia
Emmaus Baptist Church was constituted in 1776 as Charles City Baptist
Church, in Charles City County, Virginia. The original congregation
consisted of about 20 members. The current church building at 6700 Emmaus
Church Road, Quinton, Virginia 23141, in neighboring New Kent county, was
erected in 1852, apparently to accommodate the growing congregation.
The index shown here is from a book in which we documented the entire
cemetery photographically. Copies of this book are available in the Library of
Virginia, New Kent’s Heritage Library and at the church itself. Columns in
this index labeled “Section” and “Stone” refer to locations of the graves in the
cemetery, while “Page” refers to the location of the photograph in the book.
