A Girls Dream
I'm sure at one point in every girls life she will dream of a love so perfect and
hope that a man of her stature will love her for everything she is. I have been in many
relationships searching for the perfect guy, and hoping he is the one that will love me
unconditionally. I would love for a man to be intrigued by not only my appearance, but
by my personality as well. In the poem "She Walks In Beauty" written by Lord Byron, he
~
expresses a true devotion of love for a woman, and details her beauty he is so taken by. It
is a beautiful poem that explains the way I would one day love a man to look at me.
The poem truly sparks my interest with the way he compares her to nature. Nature
has such a beauty of its own, and brings happiness to many people. In the poem you can
tell Byron is fascinated by day and night, and compares the woman's beauty to it
remarkably. He finds the night very relaxing and peaceful, and he says her beauty
reminds him of that in the poem. He also compares her to the day as well, but states that
even though she reminds him of the night, that she is "the best of dark and bright"(3). I
love that line because I feel that even though she reminds him of the night, her beauty
still surpass that intensity of the day. The way he incorporates the cloudless skies makes
me feel like he sees her as openly flawless and sees beauty all the way through. I think it
is so beautiful that Byron can take something that he is so in love with, such as nature,
and compare it to the gorgeous aspects of a woman he loves.

The physical appearance of the wom~ seems to all reflect anothe~ It seems as
though if any other aspect of hers was changed, it would take away from the masterpiece
that she is. "Which waves in every raven tress,! Or softly lightens o'er her face;! Where
thoughts serenely sweet express"(9-11). The elegance of her hair accentuates the beauty
of her face, and her appearance is calm and peaceful. These words express that he is
speechless from what he sees, and at the same time can tell that he sees her in a way that
she does not see herself. I'm in love with this part of the poem, because many girls only
see their flaws and we neglect to see our better half. I feel that Byron is trying to say he
can figure out her personality through the way her physical features express her. This part
of the poem goes to show that something like hair actual can impact the way someone
looks at the rest of your features and how pleasing it can all be to look at.
Poems are written straight from the heart, and are pure emotions that writers need
to release to paper when it is too much for the mind to handle. I feel that Lord Byron had
an undying love for the woman he was writing this poem for, and he expressed her
beauty from his heart and compared it to nature, which he thought was equally as
beautiful. I truly loved this poem because it touched me in an unfathomable way.
Knowing that there are men out there that do have compassion for women like Lord
Byron, helps me to believe that maybe my fairytale prince charming doesn't have to be a
fairytale.
