for Publicly Funded Vaccine Administration
UPDATED: February 20, 2017
Administration Fees for Publicly Funded Vaccines
•
PharmaCare pays a fee for publicly funded vaccines only when a pharmacist administers the
vaccine by injection to B.C. residents who meet the BC Centre for Disease Control’s eligibility
criteria.
•
Vaccines must be administered by an authorized pharmacist. Vaccinations provided by other
health care professionals, such as nurses hired for pharmacy clinics, cannot be claimed.
Claims Procedures
For administering publicly funded vaccines to eligible patients:
•
Use the appropriate PIN (whether or not the product is eligible for an injection fee).
•
Do not enter a drug cost or fee.
•
Do not use an intervention code.
For administering a vaccine to patients who are not eligible for publicly funded vaccine:
•
Dispense the vaccine ordered from your private supplier.
•
Use the product’s DIN.
•
Charge the patient directly.
Important: For all vaccines administered, record the lot number for the vaccine provided to each patient
in your pharmacy records. Recording vaccine lot numbers is required in case of rare events such as a
vaccine recall or an Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI).
