What's going on in our classroom this week?
Reading/Writing: We will concentrate on finishing up our
guided reading books and continue working on a packet all
about reading & writing memoirs. We've
listened to some inspirational mentor
texts documenting tips for writing about
memories with great details & powerful
messages. We should finish the classroom,
chapter read-aloud this week during our
last few snack times.
Math: We will focus on dividing decimals
the first couple of days this week, then
review, and plan for a final assessment on
Wednesday. We will also complete a
challenge this week to determine a 5th
grade Math award winner for promotion.
Social Studies: Students are wrapping
up a packet over the Louisiana Purchase,
Industrial Revolution, and War with
Mexico. This week we will cover the
events leading up to the Civil War
(Slavery, Emancipation, and the Underground Railroad) & postwar Reconstruction of a nation.
