Summer is upon us and Oregon Dressage Society and Twin Rivers have
some great activities on the calendar.
Our club league show is just around
the corner July 12-13th. Everyone
loves this beautiful and local event so
even if you're not showing you'll want
to attend. Its a great opportunity to
catch up with friends. Plus, if you volunteer at the show for 2 houWhat an
eventful summer! The annual Midsummer Nights Dream Horse Show
went off without a hitch. Shannon,
Carolyn, Sally and the team at
McKenzie View made this another
lovely event. Everyone was excited to
watch Sally do her practice ride on
Baloo prior to her Century Ride at
Lake Oswego. On Aug 2 Sally joined
an exclusive club of USDF Century
Riders and was awarded her ribbon –
along with a place in the USDF history books. This week the Adult Summer Camp will take place. Carolyn
and Evelyn are pros managing the
summer camps at this point and their
planning promises to make this a fun
and memorable training opportunity.
TRC Club Members – as well as volunteers – have the annual summer
BBQ to look forward to on the 24th of
August. I hope you all are thinking
about TRC offices you might want for
next year. At the Sept Meeting we’ll
be building a slate of new officers for
elections in Oct.
This year’s Annual ODS Meeting will
be at Devonwood with the Debbie
McDonald/Janet Foy clinic. All ticket
holders are invited to the reception
and silent auction after the clinic on
Sat. And don’t forget to tally up your
volunteer hours and get them submitted to ODS for the Debbie McDonald/
Janet Foy Free Ride Drawing! You
could be riding in the clinic too!
The new ODS year begins Nov 1. You
will want to be sure to renew your ODS
membership by Nov 1 to be “active”
for the big clinic. Additionally, this year
you need to be a new member Nov 1
to receive your Directory, Omnibus,
and Test Booklet.
It has been a full year for the 2014
Leadership Team. We started the year
late, but delivered on the lectures and
activities that members voted on in
the membership survey. Kate Dean
came up with a brilliant plan that significantly improved our accounting and
record keeping. Yea! This was the
first year we built a budget. While we
have spent more than we earned, we
now have a better idea of what to expect and plan for in 2015. It was also
our goal to inventory all the odd club
items we have scattered in different
homes (I didn’t know we had a printer
and two coffee makers!) We hoped to
attain some succession planning this
year. While we failed on this front,
leaders have been trying to keep records of their activities particularly
with respect to planning. It is our
hope that these records will enable
the next leaders to be efficient,
timely, and build a bank of “best
practices” that will reduce the stress
of re-learning mistakes or missing
deadlines.
The new officers will be elected in
Oct so our club will be on the same
calendar as ODS. They will also have
time to plan for 2015 and get their
year off to a great start.
See you at the summer BBQ!

Successful Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Dressage Shows
On July 12th and 13th, TRC held two league shows at Diane and Jim Hallstrom’s McKenzie View Acres in
Eugene. It was well attended and the riders and audience had an excellent time watching many rides. The
facility is such a welcoming place, and the volunteers did a top notch job of running the shows. Shannon
Larabee, as manager, and Carolyn McHorse, as secretary, did an outstanding job of organizing
the shows. We had several sponsors who contributed $100.00 each to the show:
Bennett & Dean Real Estate
Umpqua Bank/Pat McLoughlin
Leslie T. Chapman
Janice Mackey Attorney
Lane Forest Products
Docutrak
Equine Therapeutic Rehabilitation/Amanda Force
**Profit from the shows was $800.00 for TRC and $800.00 for the Pony Club**

For Sale: Margenta, a 3rd Level Trakehner/Hanoverian
Foaled April 10, 2000. A mare with a successful and consistent dressage show record. She is showing 3rd level in 2014 and working on
4th level movements. Her grandsire, Argentan was Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 1994, and her sire, Martini stood 1st or 2nd on the
Outstanding Sire List from 1994 until his death in 2001. Martini was
also a multiple year recipient of USDF Horse of the Year award.
Margenta has had one owner. She has had excellent health care and
she is UTD on shots and worming. She is good with trailers, clippers, and farriers. Margenta was in the top 5 in the nation in the
American Trakehner Association 5 Year Old Futurity. She has correct and solid basics in dressage with good flying changes and tempe
changes. She should continue to make a good show horse or a good
schoolmaster. She produced one nice filly that is currently jumping.
Margenta is priced to sell at $38,000. For more information call
Anna at 541-954-1215.

CENTURY RIDE
At the Lake Oswego show on August 2 , Sally Temple rode a Century Ride on a wonderful horse named
Baloo. In order to ride a Century Ride, the rider and horse’s combined age must be at least 100 years. Kim
Barker generously lent Sally the Morgan horse, Baloo. The ride went well, and Baloo even offered a little
crow hop! There were many TRC members there as well as friends and family. TRC treated us to a
delicious cake with our logo on top.
A good time was had by all!

Emily Park & Pretty Lady go to NAJYRC for Dressage!
Did you know that one of our very own TRC
members, Emily Park, just went to the young
rider’s competition in Lexington, KY with a mare
named Pretty Lady? She was a 17 year old
member of the USDF Region 3/6 Junior Team.
A total of 51 juniors and young riders represented each of USDF’s nine regions. The North
American Junior & Young Riders Championships (NAJYRC) is the premier equestrian competition in North America for juniors and young
riders, age 14-21. Young equestrians come
from the United States, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean Islands to
vie for team and individual FEI medals in the
three Olympic equestrian disciplines of show
jumping, dressage, and eventing, and the FEI
World Equestrian Games disciplines of reining
and endurance. The competition is run under
the rules of the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale), the international governing body for
equestrian sport, and is the only FEI championship held annually on this continent.
Emily began as a working student in September, 2013 for David
Blake in California at Arroyo Del Mar. She has been completing her
high school classes online while being able to experience life in the
dressage world. She worked very hard and succeeded in qualifying
for Junior Young Riders with Pretty Lady, a 1997 Dutch mare sired
by Iglesias and owned by Tracy Roenick. Emily and Pretty Lady
traveled to Lexington, KY on July 11th. They received a 66.35% in
the FEI Junior team test and a 64.68% in the FEI Junior Individual
Test. Way to go Emily!
As you can imagine, transporting a horse and junior rider to Lexington and back is no inexpensive endeavor. Emily has a gofundme
page to help raise the money necessary for this endeavor. You can
support her at: http://www.gofundme.com/8ylszc
