We have an amazing PTA.
This term they have put a tremendous amount of effort and time into improving the playground for the children.
Each week there has been something new, a stage, tyres, numbers and scooters. Last week a group of dedicated
parents came into school to remove the old trim tail and this week they have organised a company to come and build
a new one!
This takes so much time and organisation with many difficulties and obstacles along the way. Undeterred they are
creating a playground we can be proud of and increasing the value of break times. Their plan is on the noticeboard
by the office if you want to see what it is all about.
In addition, this week, the PTA have provided plants for our desolate flower bed and with support from classroom
teaching assistants and some children a magnificent floral display is emerging.
Members of staff and their families have also been in at the
weekend to clear brambles and generally tidy and improve our
wild life garden ready for learning in the summer term. We
hope the gardening club will be starting up again after the
Easter break.
Thank you to everyone staff, parents and children who are helping to make our school the best it can be. Everyone’s
efforts are much appreciated.
This week on two evenings our choir performed in the Spelthorne Music Festival. This is a major achievement for
an Infant school and we have to thank Mrs Bartlett, our music teacher, with support from Mrs Colclough and Mrs
Holder who help with the practising plus offer lots of encouragement and enthusiasm.
Congratulations to Emily W, Blue Class for being chosen as a Winner of Spelthorne in Bloom’s children’s Poster.
Emily and a guest are invited to the Launch evening where the winners will be announced and collect their prize.
Mrs Holder would like all of the children who entered the competition to know she thought their posters were of a
very high standard 
This week Blue Class presented an excellent showcase of their learning to parents. The class have been involved in
a cross curricular topic to design a new use for the Orchard Meadow near the school. The children have been out
to investigate the space and interview local residents about the needs of the local community. The children have
worked in groups to design and create their ideas. This week they built their models and wrote persuasive texts
incorporating many persuasive devices such as starting with a question. The children did an excellent job of
persuading family and friends who were then asked to cast their vote for the idea of their choice. The winning
design was ‘Paws for Tea’, but all the ideas were very convincing.
This is just one example of how we motivate the children to write at Beauclerc by learning in a context, linking
different subjects together, creating a real or imaginary purpose for writing and engaging the children’s interest
through real experiences.
Lastly, thank you to the Easter Bunny who visited the Main School &Nursery again this year much to the delight of
the children.
I hope everyone has a great Easter holiday and comes back to school ready for a really busy term.

Look what we’ve learnt this week!
Blue
What a busy week we have had in Blue Class! We started the week by working hard on our persuasive
writing techniques. We were trying to persuade our grown-ups to vote for our “Grand Designs”. On
Thursday our “Grand Designs” exhibition was held in the hall much to our excitement and anticipation.
The results were very close but we can reveal the winning project was “Paws for Tea”! Followed by a very
close 2nd “Meadow Medics”. Thank you to all the grown-ups who came to see our work and vote. In Music
we have been learning to play the recorder. Mrs Bartlett has been very impressed with how well we are
doing and hopefully by the end of Year 2 we will be able to play a whole tune!  We hope you have a
lovely Easter Break and look forward to seeing you at the beginning of the Summer Term. The Blue Class
Team.
Orange
Patterns and sequences was our new learning in Maths this week. We started with patterns of shapes and
figures and then learnt about the patterns in numbers. We learnt that a number sequence can go up or
down. We practised by working out the missing numbers in a sequence of numbers. We also revised our
learning about shapes and properties of shapes.
As Easter is only two weeks away we learnt why it is an important day for Christians. We saw film about
Jesus and about his last days. We had a chance to ask so many questions after listening to the story and
watching the video. We revised our previous learning in English. We can now explain what a statement is
and how it is different to a command, question ora exclamation. We wrote sentences and shared our work
with the class. Learning the names of Alphabets was interesting because even though C makes the /k/
sound its alphabet name is pronounced as “see”. We learnt all of them from A to Z. We can now spell
using the alphabet names as well as sounds.
Red
In Red class this week the children have been learning how to copy and paste pictures from the internet
onto a word document. The year 1 children have been finding pictures of insects which they then printed
to form part of their presentation piece for their riddles. The reception children have been writing
sentences to describe a character this week. We have been ensuring that we use our phonics to sound out
words and finger spaces.
We also consolidated our learning of fractions and linked this to cooking to make our very own pizzas.
Thank you to all parents/carers for contributing towards the cost of the ingredients. The children
thoroughly enjoyed rolling out their pizza dough and choosing toppings to put onto their pizza. We hoped
they enjoyed eating these at home.
Next term our new topic will be 'Fairytales'. We hope you all have a fantastic Easter :)Thank you for
your continued support, The Red class team.
Yellow
This week in Yellow Class the children have been learning to write descriptive sentences about the teddy
they brought in from home. As a class we created a super sentence checklist that we now use as a prompt
when writing sentences. We learnt that adding descriptive words to our sentences makes them more
interesting and exciting to read. The children have also been learning to count in 10s the children learnt
that this can be a quick way to count to 100. The children created a Teddy Shop and priced everything in
the shop 10p. The children practice counting in 10s when buying different items from the shop. On
Wednesday the children created ‘Gingerbread Men’ they learnt to follow instructions and measure
different amounts of ingredients. We also learnt a new song about ‘The Gingerbread Man’ which
supported us in retelling the story.Inside your book bags you will find a piece of home learning that asks
your child to write a sentence about a piece of technological equipment they use at home.
After the Easter Break we will starting our new learning about the different homes people and animals
can live in. Happy Easter 
Purple
This week Purple Class have been enjoying some Easter celebrations. We have been learning about who
celebrates Easter and why we celebrate Easter. We have been learning about Spring and New life and
talking about how we can help our new plants to grow with sunshine and water. This week we have enjoyed
a visit from the Easter Bunny and all the children took part in an Easter Egg Hunt. After our Egg Hunt
the children enjoyed their Easter party. We played lots of party games and enjoyed lots of dancing as
well as some yummy party food. During the week we have been developing our scissor skills cutting
playdough with our scissors. We have also been developing our counting skills and number recognition,
counting out cheerios and matching quantities to our numicon pieces and number cards. We have been
exploring puffy paint and making some beautiful puffy paint pictures. The children have loved being
outside this week and it’s been lovely to enjoy water play and bubble blowing in the sunshine.
This week we have held 2 very successful 'Stay and Play's'. It was lovely to have so many children stay
behind after school, they were very excited about showing their parents and grandparents around their
nursery. Thank you to all those parents who were able to join us. We shall be arranging another 'Stay and
Play' during the summer term.
Happy Easter to you all, we look forward to welcoming all the children back after the Easter break as
well our new children who shall be joining us for the Summer Term.
Spelthorne Music Festival
This week 19 children from our choir performed at the 10th Spelthorne Music Festival. This was the 4th year that
Beauclerc have been invited to take part. The theme for this year was ‘Music’. A wide variety of songs were
performed over two evenings and our choir gave outstanding performances on both nights. They performed with
energy, vitality and smiled throughout the evening. They gave a stunning performance. This was an invaluable
experience for all involved. Our choir has grown in confidence. Eleven schools took part and the choir had to learn
11 songs. Children were also exposed to many musical instruments including saxophone, drums, guitar and a firm
favourite the Kazoo! I’m positive the children will be inspired to learn a musical instrument in the future and
continue singing forever. Well done Beauclerc!
Thank you to the children and parents for your commitment. Mrs Bartlett
Are you a Young Explorer?
Xplorer is an outdoor activity for families and it’s coming to our
area! It is a navigation challenge that is both educational and fun.
Using a simple map the aim is to find a number of markers that are
located around the park. At each marker children need to identify
what is pictured and enjoy learning a fun fact to tell their friends.
Older children will have fun competing against their friends or other
family members whilst younger children will enjoy the excitement of
successfully finding the markers.
Xplorer is perfect for children as they can have an adventure whilst
running around in a safe and friendly environment. No experience of
map reading is necessary and parents are encouraged to join in the
fun!
Events will be taking place on the following dates and locations:
Thursday 6 April – Clockhouse Lane
Wednesday 12 April – Orchard Meadow
Thursday 1 June – Clockhouse Lane
Come along to one of our free sessions between 10.30am-12.30pm.
