Beth Weatherby
 Chancellor Beth Weatherby commended UMW students
for their work thus far, particularly in regards to
orientation.
 Reported on the collaborative efforts to restore the “M”.
Reported that UMW is expecting a record number of
students this year.
 Discussed role of ASUMW in future decisions in regard
to academic excellence and bringing X1 to the next level.
 Reported on the new plaza and its central role in
convocation and commemorating the Class of 2020.
 Reported on Model Classroom in Main Hall.
 Seth Hogan asked Beth what upcoming accreditation
visits will look like. Beth explained accreditation
process as a complete campus evaluation by peers.

Position Reports
Destany Field asked about status of Curious Minds
daycare. Beth said the program had been losing
$25,000 per year and was not up to par with current
standards in terms of safety. Explained that the
decision to close Curious Minds was in the works for
years. UMW plans to have a needs assessment and
detailed case study in the upcoming months. Reported
that ECE Director Jen Gilliard is confident a better field
experience will be had utilizing community daycare
resources. Delaney noted that students still have
access to reduced cost daycare.
Dean of Students Nicole Hazelbaker
 Nicole welcomed all students back.
 Reported that parking went well the first few days of
class. Noted that there were struggles and reminded
students to be good neighbors.
 Destany Field asked for explanation of term “resident” in
terms of parking. Resident parking is intended for
residents of UMW campus so they have a safe walk to
their dorms.
Culture Club
 Three students came on behalf of newly formed Culture
Club. The club would like to be approved as an official
club.
 Culture Club is looking for funding as a campus club.
Explained their proposed role on campus and their
budget needs. Senate will contact them after meeting
with decision in regards to club status. Kelsie Field
provided them with club regulations and requirements if
approved.

Dawghouse is still in the works.
 Reported that a work study position will not be hired to
oversee game room. It will be open daily and monitored
via camera.
 Reported on MAS conference in Havre.
 Reported folf baskets were repainted a bright red.
 Reported that the Senator retreat was successful.
Vice President Kelsie Field
 Kelsie sent around a thank you card to facilities for their
help with folf course.
 Provided update on clubs.
 Presented proposals for changes to club requirements.
Proposal will be voted on via e-mail with a 24 hour
deadline to vote.
 Discussed probationary terms regarding clubs who fail
to meet club requirements. Nicole Hazelbaker reminded
senators that clubs need to be in communication with
Dining Services/Conference & Events and also Lexi
Benson who advises high risk clubs.
Office Manager Keeley Fitzgerald
 Introduced herself, welcomed students, and offered help
to anyone.
 Reported that Safe Ride will be operational over Labor
Day weekend. Safe Ride will be running Wednesday
through Monday from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. nightly.

 New office in Main Hall 302.
 Reported that KDAWG has a PSA Director opening.
Activities Coordinator
 Reported that Weekly Flush is out and that things are
going well. Also working on bulletin boards and

 Monday Movie Nights have been set up at theater.

Welcome Fair
 Welcome Fair will be September 7 from 10-2. Kelsie will
be gone for the fair due to a school trip and will need a
lot of help.
All Campus Meeting
 Extra adverting has been done to help spread the word.
Elections
 Elections will be September 28. Delaney reminded
senate that UMW is only 1 of 2 schools that allows
freshman on senate.
Hire Cards
 Delaney informed senators they will have 2 weeks to get
hire cards turned into Karen Throckmorton. If cards are
not turned in by 2 week deadline, stipends will not be
paid.
ASUMW Goals
 Delaney reminded senate about meeting etiquette and
goals for ASUMW.

Re-Schedule Meeting
 In observation of Labor Day, next week’s senate meeting
will be moved to Tuesday, September 06, 2016 at 6 p.m.
Culture Club
 Discussion held in regards to objective of club. Advisor
Hajduk offered to help the club refine their mission,
name and objectives.
 Chad Funk made a motion to table funding of Culture
Club and move to unfinished business. Wyatt Sarrazin
seconded.

first win.
Delaney Hansen recognized the Residence Life Staff for a
great orientation.
Delaney Hansen reported that Brooke Erb retired after
14 years. Thanked Brooke Erb for her time on behalf of
all.
Kelsie Field reminded all to start a strong legacy of
Colton Rohlf.
