Boarding House Handbook & EXPECTATIONS FOR BOARDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES Welcome to Harrow Boarding This handbook is designed to provide information that you may need in order to prepare for boarding at Harrow International School. Please take the time to read it’s contents. Introduction A sense of community is of immense value to pupils and families; it stems from our wish to understand and care for the whole, growing child. Our care does not start and stop at the school gate. We believe that respect for pupils, faith in pupils and an ability to see the world through their eyes should inform our teaching and our care. Indeed, we see teaching primarily as an act of care. If we care about our pupils, we will notice and respond to a need, identify and develop a talent, discover and resolve unhappiness. If we provide evidence of this care our students will feel secure and valued, and will value themselves and others. master, Housemistress, Matron and Assistant House Parents play a crucial part in the lives of boarders and their families.
