GUIDEI,INES FOR WRITING THE ASSIGNMENTS
As you know the various questions are based on different block(s) of the course on poetry. Soon
afier you have read the relevant block(s) answer the question relevant to that/thcse blocks(s).
'Ihis u'ill help ,vtlu test and digest the material you have studied.
You may benefit by organizing your ideas before writing out your answer. One of the simple
ways oftorganizing an essay or a talk is to say what you are going to say; say it; and then say
what you have said. Obviously the idea is to have a short introductory section to every essay
type question to be succeeded by a fairly lengthy (5 Lo 7 paragraphs) discussion on the main
point* and to be summed up briefly in a concluding paragraph at the end. Try this method and
see how it works.
T'ry to send a neat answer script to your study Centre. If necessary, prepare a fresh draft for
submission. This will ensure that your Counselor will be able to give you some guide-lines fbr
improvement.
Once you receive your Counselor's comments read them carefully and if possible discuss them
with him/her. It is also very helpful if you interact with your peer group following this course.
Hope everything works out well and you find the work exciting and rervarding.

And wins (oh shameful chance;) the queen of Hearts;
At this the blood the virgin's cheek forsook,
A livid paleness spreads o'er all her look;
In the first year of freedom's second dawn
Died George the Third; although no tyrant, one
Who shielded tyrants, till each sense withdrawn
Left him nor mental nor external sun:
