Field Day Program ~ Permission Slip

Wenatchee River Institute
Field Day Program ~ Permission Slip
Thank you for sending your student to the Field Day Program at
Wenatchee River Institute. As the owners and care takers of Barn Beach
nature preserve in Leavenworth, our skilled teaching staff are thrilled to
be a part of your student’s education!
Through the Field Day Program, students participate in engaging, outdoor, hands-on science and nature
investigations. They learn to identify local flora and fauna, make scientific observations, conduct
experiments, and use tools and equipment that scientists use in the field. To do this Wenatchee River
Institute uses a very low student to teacher ratio.
Following your student’s visit, with your permission, we post photos, stories, and quotes from your
student’s Field Day on our Facebook page. We encourage you to check out the learning opportunities your
student has experienced at Barn Beach Reserve.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure your student is equipped with a water bottle, lunch and appropriate clothing
for their day outside. We spend most of our learning time outside, rain or shine, hot or cold. To ensure your
child’s success during our program, encourage him or her to bring appropriate warm layers, sturdy shoes, and
a rain jacket. Thanks!

Wenatchee River Institute’s Youth Education Field Day Program cultivates life-long learners and the next generation
of stewards for our planet. We work hard to connect children to nature through scientific inquiry and hands-on
experiences. This program wouldn’t be possible without the support of parents/guardians like you. Consider
donating or becoming a WRI member today. Please take a moment to provide your contact information so we can
keep you informed of all the wonderful learning opportunities we offer for youth, adults and families. Thanks!
