YOUNG LECTURE—in Lincoln Nov. 4, 2016
The Young Memorial Lecture in Horticulture brings in internationally respected
researchers, artists and ecologists who recognize the impact of horticulture on
our daily lives as well as on environmental challenges. Each year 300-400 people
attend the lecture. In previous lectures, photographer Michael Forsberg inspired
stewardship in “Roots of Hope”; entomologist Doug Tallamy showed us ways of
“Bringing Nature Home”; Rick Darke highlighted ecosystems in “The Layered
Landscape.” This year, TED talk speaker Nalini Nadkarni takes us “Between
Earth and Sky.” This event is a great way to highlight the things you care about.

SPRING AFFAIR—April 21-22, 2017 in Lincoln
More than 3,500 attendees enjoy a plant sale featuring thousands of plants,
vendors and educational talks. This two-day event features a ticketed Preview
Party Friday night where attendees shop while enjoying music, food and drink,
followed by a Saturday event that is free of charge and open to the public. It’s a
great event to get your name out to gardeners.

TREE CLIMB in Omaha—TBA
This event, held in conjunction with Earth Day Omaha, gives
kids 8-80 a chance to climb the State Champion Swamp Oak.
Thousands of people attend Earth Day Omaha. Your logo will be on
a sponsor banner around the Champion Tree that gets a lot of media
coverage; and this event puts smiles on a lot of faces as participants
experience a tree from high in its canopy.

May 2017 Matching Grant
Although NSA works statewide, our Lincoln efforts are part of Give to Lincoln Day. This event provides critical unrestricted dollars
for use where the need is greatest—events, outreach, plants... This year we are letting businesses put up a matching grant of
$250 or more, a great way to encourage donations because dollars are partially matched by the Lincoln Community Foundation
and fully matched by this grant. This will be highly publicized through social media, Razoo, NSA’s website, etc.
