1. Login related questions
How do I login to MONA?
-
See the manual on www.scb.se/mona-en.
I am having trouble to log in through the link at www.scb.se/monaen, what can I do?
-
If you are getting the message ”Log-on credentials not accepted”,
make sure you entered the correct username and PIN/OTP.
Why do I get the error message ”The user name or password is
incorrect”, even though I am using the correct user name and
password?
-
The entered domain name may be incorrect. In the login portal, it
should say “Sign in to: MICRO”. If it does not, you need to type
micro\username in the User name field.
Why does my smart phone application no longer generate working
OTPs?
-
If this happens, it probably means that your seed code for the
application has become unsynchronized. Contact the MONA
support and they will generate a new seed code for you.
2. MONA-environment questions
Is it possible to see the file extensions when using MONA?
-
Yes, click on View – File name extensions.
Some keyboard shortcuts does not seem to work, are there any
alternatives to those in MONA?
-
Some keyboard shortcuts does indeed not work in MONA, e.g.
any command using the Windows key.
Alt + Tab, which is normally used to switch between windows,
does not work either. In MONA, this command is replaced by Alt +
Page Up and Alt + Page Down. Alt + Insert is a similar command
which will cycle through windows in the order they were opened.
Some keyboard combinations does not work on MAC, what are my
options?
-
One alternative is to use an on-screen keyboard. Contact MONAsupport and we will create a shortcut to the on-screen keyboard
on your Start Menu.
Why is the resolution poor and/or seeming to be zoomed?
-
This can be caused by your browser’s zoom function not being set
to default (100%). In order to reset your browser’s zoom to
default, press Ctrl + 0.
Can I view the files in my folders in a detailed list?
-
Yes, this is the default view.
3(8)
Why does not the files I delete go to the Recycle Bin?
-
Due to limited storage capabilities, the Recycle Bin does not store
the files you delete. If you accidentally delete a file you restore
yourself. Open the folder where the file was located, right click on
an empty space within the folder, click on Properties and open the
Previous Versions tab. Choose the point in time from which you
want to restore the file and click on Restore.
I am left-handed, is it possible to switch the mouse pointer in MONA
to left-handed mode?
-
Yes, contact the MONA support.
How do I get files to my local computer?
-
As long as the files follow the restrictions below you may either
copy files to the OutBox or right click and Send to OutBox.
Is there any kind of restriction on which type of information the files
I send via the OutBox can contain?
-
Yes, the files must not contain micro data.
Please note that the MONA support examines the files that leave
the system through the OutBox.
4(8)
The OutBox does not seem to send the files to my email, can I solve
this myself?
-
Make sure that the size of the files you are trying to send does not
exceed 2 MB.
Make sure that the file you are trying to send is not currently
opened/used.
Why can I not receive email from the OutBox?
-
-
Make sure that your email client does not sort the emails into the
spam folder and that your antivirus protection does not block
emails with attached zip files. If it does, you can try to add
[email protected] to the trusted sender list. Contact the MONA
support if the problem persists.
If you have recently changed workplace or for some other reason
changed your email, MONA may have an outdated email address.
How can I change the visual size of the desktop?
-
Most web browsers support full-screen mode which can be
activated and deactivated by pressing F11.
When I press my keyboard, strange signs appear instead of the
normal ones.
-
Press Alt + Shift, this changes the keyboard settings between
different languages. For example, if you are using a Swedish
computer it will change the setting between Swedish and English.
Can I search for/in files?
-
Yes, when in your My Documents folder, type the file name in the
search field.
-
There is also a program called AstroGrep which can be used for
this purpose. Contact the MONA support to get access to the
program. Instructions for AstroGrep can be found in the folder
_MONAInformation.

4. Other questions
At what times are the MONA support available?
-
Week days 08.00-16.00, during summer 09.00-15.00. You can
always check the current opening hours at www.scb.se/mona-en.
I lost my user information, can I get another copy of it?
-
Contact the MONA support, and they will send it by mail.
Can I connect to MONA if I am not in Sweden?
-
You are only allowed to connect to MONA from locations
accepted in the secrecy test. If you want to use MONA from a
location not included in the test, you have to contact Statistics
Sweden in order to run another test.
Can I add my own files to my MONA account?
-
-
Yes, that is possible. Contact the support and they will help you
move the file to your account folder.
Please note that all files will be examined by the support before
they are copied into the MONA system. Files containing malicious
code or files that enable interoperability between other data will
not be accepted.
Files that contain micro data which was not included in the
secrecy test will not be accepted.
Why does my MONA connection get cut off?
-
-
After four hours of inactivity you will be logged out of MONA, but
you will be able to resume the session by logging in again. After
another 24 hours of inactivity the session will be terminated and
you risk losing unsaved work.
If you experience that your session is cut off earlier than this,
perform the following troubleshooting:
1. Make sure the login web browser tab is not closed.
2. Examine if the problem persists using a different browser.
3. Make sure there are no energy saving settings that cause your
computer to enter sleep/hibernate mode.
4. Examine if the problem persists from a different computer
and/or from a different internet network.
5. Try using a cable internet connection rather than wifi.
-
If none of those suggestions solve the problem, contact the
MONA support.
