We are the YWCA Cambridge and “Still We Rise.” We carry out our mission by delivering needed programs and services in the Cambridge and Marshfield communities. Tribute to Outstanding Women is our signature, annual fundraiser helping to support essential YWCA services, including the Homeless Family Shelter; the Tanner Residence, a housing facility for single women who have experienced debilitating trauma; and the Marshfield Branch, which provides high-quality, affordable year-round programming for women and children. For 22 years the YWCA Cambridge has sponsored a Tribute to Outstanding Women, an event that annually recognizes the accomplishments of just a few of the outstanding women in the Cambridge and Marshfield communities. Our Tribute to Outstanding Women provides an opportunity to say “thank you” to these women who share the YWCA’s mission and vision of a world free from racism, in which women are fully empowered and all people live with peace, justice, freedom and dignity. Our honorees this year are dreamers and doers who use their talents and skills to enrich the lives of the people in our communities. They educate our young, protect our community, defend low-income people against housing discrimination, bring comfort to grieving families who have lost a loved one, and advocate for our Marshfield Branch of the YWCA Cambridge as a viable service provider among organizations and agencies throughout the South Shore area, New England and Africa. Our young woman honoree, similarly, is making her mark as an entrepreneur, community organizer, and an outstanding high school student. Individually and collectively, our 2014 honorees personify the theme, “Still We Rise”. By attending this year’s Tribute to Outstanding Women you help us raise the funds needed to continue our tradition of service to the Cambridge and Marshfield communities. Thank you for your support.
